DEBADGE FAIL!!!! [Pics Inside]

Well here is the damage.... I used my heat gun to warm up the adhesive, then used fishing line to cut the badge off. Got all of them off then used the heat gun again to soften the adhesive and used a microfiber towel to rub off the adhesive. Then polished it the residue off. This is what is left.... I guess 8 year old badges dont come off very nicely...

To say the least I'm pretty bummed. I'll most likely go get it repainted. What a dumb idea this was....

I had gotten other things fixed when i took it in for this so i don't know what the specific price it ended up being for just the trunk...repaint of a trunk should never be anymore than 200 though (125-150 would be a good price)

You can't just detail those spots out.

If they're anything like what happened to my car, when I took the Fuji emblem off, there were abrasions right through the clear coat, down into the primer all the way around the edge of where the emblem had been.

My best bet is that dirt and contaminates get up under the emblem, and eat away at the paint.

I have debaged two trunks and I never used a heat gun or fishing line.

Step 1 get goo gone and let every letter soak for about 20-30 minutes
Step 2 get dental floss since it is wax coated and take off letters
Step 3 very carefully rub glue with goo gone till all residue is gone will take about an hour to do the whole trunk.

I debadged the trunks on both of the Maximas I owned, as well as my mom's Altima without ever seeing this issue. Both times, I used fishing line + my finger nail + goo gone.

I wonder why the Infinitis suffer from this, but the Nissans don't...

^^do you not see the change in surfaces on the INFINITI part?? thats not something that a detailer will be able to get polish out....there are indentations into the paint and not stuff just over it

I gotcha, I'm at the body shop now. Hoping for good news.

If the guy says anything above 200, punch him in the face and walk away

You also have some weird halo oxidation on the Mt. Fuji emblem that I did not have
