Broken Engine Mounts?

So today I let a co worker drive my G and one of his first comments was that he thinks one of my engine mounts is broken. My question is how would I know for sure, is it something a shop can easily check? Should I be able to feel vibration when I start up my car? If they are broken what kind of labour should I be expecting to replace them? Thanks alot

depends on the severity of the vibration.

every time i started my evo that little motor shook the whole car quite nicely even at idle

motor mounts will wear over time, my engine has 200k and there is a little vibration but nothing bad. I test drove a G37s and there was zero vibration so i can tell my mounts are aged. by my friends Ford Focus as well as my uncles Ford Focus vibrate HORRIBLY at 80k miles lol those have the cheapest motor mounts I've ever experienced. true POS mounts, cant thing it would be good for the engine to vibrate THAT much. as for our cars, our mounts should last the life of the engine. low oil levels will also make your car vibrate, I'd check your oil and make sure your engine hasnt consumed too much

Pop the hood and leave it open. You should be able to see your engine move more then normal when you give it throttle in gear.

Well when I'm driving I can feel the vibration of the engine through the pedal, and the seat, etc. It's not something that I really noticed untill it was pointed out to me. But then again I've been riding a bike for years before I got this so it feels better regardless. The motor has about 192,000km on it so about 120,000 miles so the mounts could be going. I would open the hood and take a look but I'm not sure I would recognize above average movement.

Some movement is fine. On an old ford I had the engine would lift up a few inches.
