I say you just buy a short block or long block from import pro...it's already built and it'll save you time.

If you spend the money to redo the block more then likely your going to have to redo the heads...the price adds up quickly unless your doing it yourself or you have shop hook ups

another thing I should add, I dont plan on going FI, as much as I love power, I dont see myself having the $$ for a FI setup anytime soon. I'll most likely be going with OEM parts again, they are quite reliable I'll probly just tryn find an aftermarket valve cover gasket though, I hear thats the main thing as to why we have such bad oil consumption though...

[QUOTE=Trickstyle;6538368]not performace, I figure it would be cheaper to buy new pistons, lifters, piston rings, and anything else I would need. I got 200k out of this one, I think I can do it again

NO clutch disc or pressure plate.???...@56000 mi. I am looking at that down the road where I see most doing this between 70-90000 mi.? My driving is mostly turnpike. these 4 cam engines are a dream. mine runs like new and now makes more power than orig. very happy with it but still have eye on 350Z 2007

idk, like i said, i still have much research to do, I drive a 5AT so i figure the pressure plate is what i'll need to be on the lookout for? afaik, my tranny is fine, but im going to switch out my torque converter during the engine swap, my car takes to much time while shifting from drive to reverse and reverse to drive. might do the valve body upgrade as well... idk

the Z is fun, I had an 05 and miss it dearly, just make sure u get a 6MT

I bought it in hopes of making a track car for drifting and stunt driving.
Estimate of rebuild cost?

I've got all the money saved for the build and can pull the trigger anytime I want, but if the motor aint broke, I'm not gonna build it.

If you dont mind me asking. How much do you estimate a solid engine rebuild would cost? I just purchased a 05 g35 coupe and am in the process of figuring out how much damage it will be to get a solid rebuild.

About $1200 worth of parts to do everything, plus $400-800 in machine work, plus labor. That's for a rebuild back to OEM spec without any performance upgrades. Things like the cam sprockets are expensive and the parts cost adds up quickly, if you're doing more of a budget minded rebuild without replacing cam actuators, sprockets, sensors you can bring the parts cost down to like $700.
