One of the good things about the G35 that I haven't seen anyone mention yet is that you can get it in a Manual Transmission.... which, if you know how to drive one (as I'm sure you do, since you know how to ride a motorcycle), is a great addition to the driving experience of a sporty'ish car.

I will warn you though... don't get a G35 and hope to hop it up with simple bolt-on modifications and expect to yield wildly fruitful results. It's hard to eek extra power out of these cars without spending quite a bit of money. However, if you're a canyon carver... you'll probably appreciate the fact that a G35 Coupe weighs a good 700+ pounds less than an Charger SRT-8.

Have you taken a G35 Coupe out for a test drive yet? If not.. then I suggest you definitely do that before you start trying to sell your Charger. You might test drive a G35 and find out that you just can't deal with the significant power drop-off in comparison to what you're used to in the Charger.... although having a 6MT will somewhat help to mask some of the power differential by giving you a bit more snap in each gear than you would have in a 5-speed auto version of a G35 Coupe.

 

I have gotten the chance to drive a 35, and its a great car for the price. I should be okay with the significant hp loss. Before the charger I had the new genesis coupe (wannabe coupe G35) with manual transmission, and I'm hoping the G35 I decide to get has it. But honestly, it's not a big deal to me.

 

Get a g35 with a vortech or a turbo should be just as fast !! 1 can be had for around 13-17k with decent milage try for the 05+ revup engine if you stay n/a

lol no, 3.5l chargers are pigs and run mid-high 15's. Don't get me wrong, our cars aren't fast and they are heavy but they still run flat/low 14's bone stock with a good driver. They're not even close. 6.1 is significantly faster than the G but I imagine it sacrifices a ton of handling with it's weight.

I believe what the OP wants is a good DD that's still decently fast, fun, good handling, looks good and has a nice interior with decent gas mileage, which I think the G suits nicely. He has a bike for ridiculously fast speed and exhilaration that can't be matched in a car, at least not a cheap one. Correct me if I'm wrong OP.

 

Exactly right buddy! 12mpg with the charger just isn't realistic for a 21yr old. Give me your opinions on what you think about leasing a car.

 

Are you considering leasing a new G37 now instead of going with a used G35? I'm a little inquisitive of your above mention of a lease, since you stated your original intent was that you were planning on getting an '03-'07 G35 and using the extra cash for a bike.

Last I heard, most people were doing like $2-3K down and around $380 to $400 a month for the lease on a new G37.... Without knowing your income situation, for 21... that sounds to me like kinda a lot of money for a 3 year car solution.... but then again, I'm the type of person who likes to get a nice, reliable vehicle and keep it for a long period of time. At least after paying a loan for 3 years, you will still own a car (maybe not a super-duper nice one anymore at that point), but it's still a means of transportation in case things in your life were to take a drastic and unexpected change for the worse. Just some things to consider.... from a 35 year old.

 

at 21 you'll probably get raped on insurance for a lease.

But if you can afford the lease and insurance then get a e92 335i coupe bmw. Then get a jb juice box to up the boost and you'll have something that out handles your charger, is faster in a straight line and gets better mpg.

 

^With all of the problems associated with the 335I's, probably not worth it.

 

And the fact that working around all those electronics on the bmw's is a pain in the a$$
