How to refuel a loaner car?

I've got a question about getting the gas door open to refuel the car. How do you do it? I think I remember reading about this several months back, but I can't come up with the right combination of words in the search to find a thread on it.
I am asking because (besides the obvious) I had my car in for
some work, and I got a loaner sedan. Problem was, I just got the key, and no keyfob. I didn't think about it until I was returning the car, and I was at the gas station trying every which way to get the gas door open. Hitting the unlock buttons on the doors did not work. To keep it short, I drove away without adding a drop of gas to the tank.
So, how does one open the locked gas door without a keyfob?

On a side note, my coupe was in for service to replace the Bose (Clarion) head-unit. Damn think was skipping like crazy in the Chicago cold, and had the infamous left-tweeter semi-random cut-out in sound. I am glad to have that replaced. Driving home, it only skipped for a second or two at the beginning of a cd, and was fine after that. Now for another 8000 miles before the new one breaks down enough to need to be replaced. I also had the master switch replaced for the window up/down operation. Problem was that the passenger window would not move when the switch on either door was pressed.

Impressions of the sedan versus the coupe: Mind you, I'm not trying to start a war here, but I feel kind of sad for you sedan owners. Yeah, you may be able to see out the back and parallel park more easily, but it's just now as fun as the coupe. The coupe's drivers seat has better side bolsters, which I noticed immediately upon getting mine back. Also, the suspension was tighter and I like that the coupe sits lower. The sedan's seat warmers are about 10x stronger than the coupes. After a few minutes, I had to turn them off.
Yes, I am biased heavily toward the coupe, and I prefer the manual transmission over the automatic, and I've managed to live with only two doors.

What car do you own? On the G's all you have to do is unlock the doors.

I own the coupe, but the gas door issues were with the sedan loaner. I did try the door unlock buttons on the driver's side door. That didn't work for me. And without a keyfob to easily hit the unlock doors button, I couldn't come up with any other ideas of how to get the gas door open.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! LOLOLOL!!!

EXACTLY THE SAME has happened to me this morning -- i drove away without adding the gas and when the service people called me I asked them how to release that thing! THey said, just make sure that all of the doors are open and push it on the oposite side. (Right), left if it's a coupe.

i also downloaded a manual to haha how dumb can one get....

funny $hit

I know you wernt trying to hurt any sedan owners feelings here but geesh... you feel sorry for us? ouch, I cant think of anything that the coupe can do better than the sedan. (most like its looks better.. and I agree)but thats subjective. I wanted the coupe too, untill I drove the sedan and coupe 6mt. Then I saw the price difference. That was enough for me... I saved myself $6000 by not getting the mighty coupe. I feel sorry for some coupe owners too.

Who would have thought to push the opposite side of the door to get it open?
Ok- Add that to my list of why I like the coupe more than the sedan

Ok, maybe sorry is not the best word. The sedan is still a great car.

You mean you push the opposite side of the gas door(where the hinge is)? Like a Mercedes? I never re-filled the car when I had a loaner.

Later,

Ray

What I was told when I bought my car was that you cannot open the gas tank w/o hitting unlock on the remote entry.

The fuel filler door will unlock and lock when you use the key to lock and unlock the door.
On my coupe, as I turn the key the second time to unlock the passenger door, it also unlocks the fuel door.
As I remember, my Sedan was the same.

Yep, just push on the side of the door and the leverage will open the gas door.

I actually had the opposite impression when I took out a sedan for a loaner. I actually was impressed. The car felt more rigid which is common when comparing a sedan to a coupe, I think the car just felt more comfortable than my coupe, maybe I am getting old or I just like how practical/useful the overall car felt. Sure the word practical may make me feel and sound old but I am only 23, and I can totally appreciate the sedan's advantages over the coupe.
