I DID search and couldnt find any direct answers, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed a throttle body spacer,and a plenum spacer and a z tube.Someone mentioned i might need a throttle body coolant bypass valve?

Could any of you help me decide if i need or should get a throttle body coolant bypass valve and or tell me what its use really is? I understand to an extent,but the pros and cons?

If this is something important, maybe it'd be worth sticky-ing?

Our VQ motors love cool, anything we can do to keep it that way only makes our G35s happier. I installed the bypass 6 years ago while installing my 1/2" spacer shutting off any coolant running thru my intake....never turned it back on. Living in CA and having a garage I never found the need to run coolant thru my intake even in winter.

If you live in a state where your throttle body would freeze, just leave it the way it is so hot coolant prevents it from freezing. If you live in a climate like in Cali, you can install the bypass valve to stop the coolant.

Its astonishing how fast and often yopuu respond to my posts, well posts in general,and your input is always helpful,and right.

I live in Delaware, so it fluctuates ,winters can be in the 20's and summers in the low 100's

So what would you personally do?

Thank you as well for the input man. As i stated to Gary, a few months of the year at night it does get below freezing. I'm just not to sure exactly what it does, and since i was told its used to keep heat down,i obviously got worried because i know a hot engine (specially ours) can be very risky?

Is this quick enough? LMAO Get the bypass valve, turn it off during those warm months but I doubt you'll notice a difference. It might take you 15 minutes to install, your choice....Gary

So what exactly does it do in the first place? Its better for cold driving or the opposite?

Itll be bad to use during the cold weather because then itll freeze since there is no hot coolant running through the engine. Install it but then just turn it on/off during the weather changes

So by shutting off the coolant during the hot season it wont mess with the car in any way.like it wont build up pressure at the valve and burst?

My coolant bypass valve/hose has been installed since '06 and shut off without issues. If I lived anywhere but SoCal and didn't keep SLICK in her garage I'd allow fluid thur my manifold during cold months....Gary

Cool.so the only purpose of that hose is to cool the throttle and pleneum?

Purpose of the bypass valve/hose is to block hot coolant during warm weather since our VQ motors operate better in cool conditions....Gary

Yea i know that i was saying with no bypasd the hose is there just to keep that stuff from freezing
