Mishimoto Oil Cooler Kit

Hey guys,

I am considering picking up this bolt on oil cooler kit for my G35. I do some weekend track and autocross and have seen some other G35s have issues with oil temperatures. This car is also my daily and has to get me to work during the week so I am looking to preserve the life of my engine.

Has anyone used this particular kit? I like the fact that I do not have to worry about making any brackets.

Here is the kit I am referring to: http://www.mishimoto.com/03-09-nissa...ooler-kit.html

Any information will be helpful, this would be a neat Christmas gift for me.

Thanks

It looks like you have the option to get the kit with a thermostatic plate. This makes sense for those of us who drive our Gs every day.

Hopefully someone on the forum has this and can provide a review or opinion.

I would just get the Stillen one.

The cost of this one that you linked is $575 after adding the thermostatic plate (which you really need or else you will over-cool your oil under regular driving).

Stillen offers coolers at about $370 and $432. The cheaper one uses a Stillen designed radiator. I have the Setrab (the other one wasn't available when I bought mine). They both include a thermostatic plate which also mounts a larger capacity oil filter.

That doesn't look like a bad kit but I like the way the Mishimoto looks. I found it for less than $500 with a thermostat. http://www.jscspeed.com/catalog/Niss...initi_G35.html

Definitely considering it.

Lmfao outside mount FTW and maximum airflow. I'd pick Stillen for the cheaper cost and proven brand

If you want to pay $50 more for a silver cooler from a less proven brand...go for it I guess.

Hey Guys,

Just chiming in to open the floor to any specific questions regarding this oil cooler kit. We recently introduced a thermostatic option as well as a kit featuring a black cooler for a stealthy appearance.

JaE35: Did you receive pricing directly through Mishimoto? Be sure to check with our vendors for the best available pricing.

Thanks

The Stillen requires their Oil Cooler Kit to use Fram Oil Filter. Does your require a certain oil filter or its universal?

It's not that our kit requires a Fram oil filter, it's the thermostatic plate doesn't fully seal with the factory Nissan/Infiniti oil filter due to the very skinny rubber ring. We give the specs for a particular Fram filter (and include one in the kit) so you can bolt it on, as well as cross-reference it with your favorite brand of filter, including K&N, or whoever your preferred brand.
