Scraping Sound

Lately I've noticed that whenever I go over a rough patch of road or any type of dip in the road, my car makes a scraping noise. It sounds like I am bottoming out but I know for sure that I'm not since the noise just started to happen a few days ago. Anyone know what the problem could be?

UPDATE: The problem was a crack in the lower control arm.

Only one sure way to figure out what the noise might be, "Look under your car!" What ever is making that kinda noise should be easy to spot....Gary

When I looked under there was nothing that appeared to be wrong. The sound seems to be coming from somewhere in the wheel well. I thought it might be the shocks but I checked them and they look fine to me. Plus they have less than 1,000 miles on them.

Well then your best bet is to find a speed bump and bring a friend. Document where the sound is coming from as you go over it slowly. We can't really help you, there's too many possibilities. Inspect your endlinks and suspension as well.

More information is helpful, the scraping noise you describe could be due to a loose fender liner. Wouldn't take more than a few inches to scrape or make the noise you describe. They're held in place with push pins available at most autoparts stores or Nissan dealerships. I keep a dozen in my tool box at all times....Gary

Its hard to describe. Pretty sure its not the fender liner. I am taking it in to the dealership soon. Thanks for the help though.

I think we need a bit more info. Is your car lowered? Scraping noises could be a handful of things.

It's lowered on springs and tokico shocks. The noise began well after I lowered the car. I am taking it in to the dealership today hopefully they can tell me whats wrong and I can fix it myself.
