It happened to me yesterday TOO!!! PROBLEM THOUGH!
Yesterday I wrecked my coupe as well. I was driving around a bend hit ice and slid into oncoming traffic and hit a saturn head on. My car has been evaluated at about 16k worth of repairs. The only thing that is bothering me is that a head on collision at around 35mph i would expect both of my airbags to deploy as did in the other guy's car. Only my passenger side bag deployed and i was alone. My question is has anyone else had this problem? Does this sound like a factory defect?? What should I do about this if anything? Who should I talk to?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah I would think so too. If we had hit sideways or whatever I would assume that it might not come out but we hit directly head on. That was my first response too afterwards...wtf? I was like well if I had a passenger he would have been ok!!
I was under the understanding that the passanger's side airbag would only deploy if there were someone sitting in the seat. It should also deploy more quickly if someone is sitting in the seat and the seat belt isn't buckled. That is real strange that your airbag did not deploy. I would surely make infiniti tell me what was going on.

usually air bags will NOT deploy at a head on collision. i dont know about the G35 but on some cars the air bag should not come out unless the computer finds it necessary. seeing how your still typing you're not hurt right? by letting the air bag delopy it probably could've caused more injuries

So sorry to hear of your collision. You'd think if one front airbag deployed, that both should have.
Sounds like some kind of defect to me, altho how you'd trace that, I don't know.
The insurance investigator may shed some light on this, as well as the body shop.
I hope nobody was injured too seriously.

As someone mentioned before the opposite should have happened - his driver's side airbag should have deployed since the combined impact speed was greater than 20 mph, and his passenger side airbag should NOT have gone off because there was no one in the seat. Almost certainly a defect.
Thats insane....i would be damn pissed. One thing i can tell you is, if your airbag did go off you would be in a lot more pain. Getting hit with that thing is like getting punched dead in the face by a 300 lb boxer......it hurts.
If you do wind up being hurt because the airbag did not go off. I would definitely follow up with it. Good luck

I'm glad you are OK.
The air bags, may or may not deploy. It depends on the speed and area of impact. The sensors and ECU programming will decide if it is supposed to deploy driver/passenger/side air bags. Most likely while the collision was to the front of the car, it was angled such that only the passenger needed the air bag and only the front (and not side) air bag at that.

It depends on where the impact was. If you're passenger side was the impact zone, the only airbag sensors would trip would be at the passenger side. It happened to me when I totalled my G about a year ago on the freeway going at about 70mph. I hit a stationary truck that was left on the freeway because some bastard decided to fall asleep behind the wheel. The impact area was on my side since I swerved at the last second to avoid a full on head on collision, but only my side curtain deployed. The driver and passenger side remained un-deployed. The airbags are not faulty at all...they are designed to deploy when the sensors recognizes there's heavy impact in that area.
