Alarm Security Function Help

On factory security settings, I used to own a Lexus and I thought the alarms were the same, can you please help me with this!

When I press the alarm button to activate the security it blows the horn once!?

Is that correct? I mean it has been like this for years and I haven't tripped but I can't have it like this.

Question what should the alarm do that is on an 04 with the fob or alarm pad, what does yours do when you press it once to activate it? Mine blows the horn........?

Do I need to bring in the car to get the alarm fixed? Or does it blow on the first press?

Plus I don't know if it even works now for security at all.

I know I ain't crazy, I had the car used by my brother and I think they did something to the settings, tell me what to do please.

Thanks

No Brian, you're not crazy but you do need help! I assume you didn't get the manual with your coupe that shows how everything works? When locking your coupe the horn w/blow once and lights will flash. If you don't like the horn blowing when you lock up hold the top and second button down on the fob and it will cancel the horn function but lights will still flash! If you have doubts about your G being secured when you lock it, walk around and try both doors.

I did that already, from what I understand it used to lock silently unless you want to activate the alarm.

Like I said, the car has been used and abused slightly, and a mechanic had the car for a while so I am not sure what he did to the ride except what I see and know.

I got the manual but I want the ride to set either silent or activated with the push of one button.

Where do I get to the alarm? Or you don't know where it is? I was thinking you might know seeing your posts and your whip.

Not sure if I'm 100% understanding what your post is asking, but like Gary said, the sound of the horn upon pressing the lock button on the key fob is normal and indicates that the alarm has been activated. If you wish to lock the doors without the horn sounding, press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob at the same time for about 5 seconds and it will no longer sound the horn when you lock the doors, which (I'm assuming) is the "silent" effect you're looking for.

Brian, you're over thinking this simple process! Once you've deleted the horn warning you press the top lock button on the fob, all doors will lock lights will flash. To unlock you use the second button, press once for the drivers side lock and once more if you wish the passenger side unlocked. That's as simple as it gets Brian, not exactly rocket science.

Well you supposed to be able to choose to press the button one time and the lights blink with a security alarm activated, if you press it twice then the horn is supposed to blow.

I was wondering how to get to the alarm, is there a diagram. I know how to silent the alarm.

Thanks

Not sure where you got that information. Here is what the owner's manual has to say about the security system:

How to activate the vehicle
security system
1. Close all windows.
The system can be activated even if the
windows are open.
2. Remove the key from the ignition
switch.
3. Close and lock all doors, hood and
trunk lid.
Lock all doors by pressing the LOCK
button on the keyfob, the Intelligent
Key or by pushing any front door
handle request switch or turning the
door key. When using the remote keyless
entry, the hazard indicators will
operate as shown in “Remote keyless
entry system” or “Intelligent Key
system” in the “3. Pre-driving checks
and adjustments” section.
4. Confirm that the SECURITY indicator
light A comes on. The SECURITY indicator
light glows for about 30 seconds
and then blinks. The system is now
activated. If, during this 30 second
time period, the door is unlocked by
the key or the remote keyless entry, or
the ignition switch is turned to ACC or
ON, the system will not activate.
Even when the driver and/or passengers
are in the vehicle, the system will activate
with all doors, hood and trunk lid
locked and ignition switch off. Turn the
ignition switch to ACC to turn off the system.
Vehicle security system operation
The security system will give the following
alarm:
The headlights blink and the horn
sounds intermittently.
The alarm automatically turns off after
approximately 50 seconds. However,
the alarm reactivates if the vehicle is
tampered with again. The alarm can
be shut off by unlocking a door with
the key, by pushing any front door
handle request switch or by pressing
the UNLOCK button on the keyfob or
Intelligent Key.
The alarm is activated by:
Opening the door without using the
key or keyfob or Intelligent Key.
Opening the trunk lid without using
the keyfob or Intelligent Key.
Opening the hood.
How to stop alarm
The alarm will stop only by unlocking a
door with the key, by pushing any door
handle request switch or by pressing the
UNLOCK button on keyfob or Intelligent
Key. The alarm will not stop if the ignition
switch is turned to ACC or ON.
If the system does not operate as described
above, have it checked by an
INFINITI dealer.

And it would help if your posts were easier to read. As it is they make my head hurt..........

I understand what you are talking about my friends civic and my other friends evo x both do that. One press of the lock button lights only, a second press will sound the horn. Our Gs don't do that. It's either horn on the first press or (after holding the lock+unlock buttons) lights only. Hope this clears things up.

2003 g35 sedan locking

When I lock the vehicle I do not get either horn or lights. The vehicle does lock.
When unlocking, I do not get lights.
Is there a setting to reset this.
I recently fixed my seat gear and wondered if something was set in the process.
Thanks

Man, all I needed was someone four years ago to tell me check to see if the key is original, and if someone broke the gas tank to steal my gas.

That happened!

New gas actuator, Original Key car runs like a person, wat would be the answer for my next question, I don't want to find out 3 years later, the car is already 17 years old.

The sad part, I am serious.....
