Hi, I have a stock 5AT Black/Willow Coupe, fully loaded and i want to mod my car. I was wondering if there are any 5AT Coupe's which are heavily modified? if so .. can u please tell me what you have and how much of a difference it has made. I know some people will be wondering that if i wanted to mod my car .. why i didn't get a 6MT. I am 17 years old and yes i know how to drive stick shift, but my parents bought me this car. its my first car, and they were against the idea of me getting a stick shift even though i begged them for it. However im very thankful for my car and i dont wanna complain.. so i was just wondering what mods i can do to my car.. cuz all the modded G's i see online are 6MT.. i

Hey DFWG35, your car is pretty impressive.. could you tell me your 0-60 Numbers and quarter mile. and have u taken on an m3 yet? or any car which is faster than a stock G35?

 

Thats quite a list of mods you've got for a 5AT. Regarding your " Level 10 Custom ValveBody Upgrade ", where did you get that done. Is that similar to Stillens upgrade. Did you get the " 3.538 Final Drive " upgrade also?

 

hey arjunz, im in the same boat as u r. My dad bought me a 5AT for my high school graduation unexpectedly last yr. I really didn't have the opportunity to tell him i wanted a 6mt, but its ok. The G is an awesome car either way and I have grew quite fond of the 5AT anyways, although i would take a 6mt over a 5AT if i had the chance. I haven't done many mods cuz i am a broke a$$ freshman in college. All my money go towards my tuition or my very, very expensive gf .

Anyways, the mods i highly recommend are the z-tube/k&n filter combo. Buy a z-tube used from a 350z owner (my350z.com) for like $50 and a k&n for like $40. Its less than a $100 and you will notice good improvement in sound and performance. Definatly the best bang for your buck

Other than that, lower the G (it looks so much sexier when lowered). I have eibachs but im not so sure i would recommend them cuz they have fu**** up my camber and my tires are like dead. Make sure you get a camber kit asap!


And lastly, get an exhaust if you have the money. They definately change the feel of the car. Louder, faster, and meaner.

Oh yeah, tint of course!!

These things make a big difference. You will feel like a pimp if you buy these things- GUARANTEED

And dont underestimate the 5AT. Its hauls ***. I have even beaten my friend's 350z 6mt a few times (i dunno how , but o well).

same exact position as you Omar. i also got the z-tube/popcharger first . its one of the cheapest first mods you can do that makes a big difference. nothing wrong with the AT, but im sick of friends giving me nonsense about it

 

Damn you lucky bastard..17 and you get a brand new G? dang! what do your parents drive then? a porche?

 

oh ya, im in the same situation, too. All my friends are bugging me why didn't i go with 6mt. But ya....90% the ppl who can't beat our AT by using their 6mt. In a drag race, 5AT usually owns 6mt (without luaunge).

BTW, nothing wrong with the AT. Go do some research and u'll see the SMG II for the m3 is definally faster than a stick shift m3 driven by a F1 driver . AT is just what gonna happen in the future. Manual? a human can never shift faster than a computer .

But anyways, driving a stick is much more fun tho

 

My car is auto... and damn.. ppl are annoying! they keep asking why i didnt get a 6speed... for me honestly i think its more fun driving an auto.... the manumatic isnt that bad...

I had Grubbs Infiniti do the install of the Valve Upgrade

 

My suggestion is something like DFW if you have the cash or the z-tube K&N mod with a Y- Pipe upgrage, which is what I'm getting next if I find one in which the price is right.

 

LOL, i feel you guys, I hear it everyday, some of my friends call my car the "gay35", lol. Funny tho, they are driving little civic hatchbacks and what not..

Hey Omar, you said the K&N filter and the Z tube improved performance... could u tell me approximately how much? .. has anyone dynoed their 5AT Coupe's? Post numbers please. My Car is bone stock and i have plans for it respectively:
1) 15% Tints and Clear Corners
2) Pop Charger, K&N Filter and Z tube
3) Borla Exhausts.( Heard Borlaz on a G the other day, its a Monster!)
4) Dropping my car (Coilovers, NO SPRINGS!) and getting 19's or 20's. ( I Don't want any wheel gap)
5) Greddy TT w/ a super sound blow off valve or a Vortech Supercharger Kit. would any one know which is more suitable for the AT and if there are any complications for either on a AT?


All of this is gonna take a lot of time.. since i'm still in high school. however im gonna work all thru the summer and put all of the money into my car.

 

Haha i'm 17 also, but never in my life would my parents agree w/ any type of those performance mods, and i do kinda agree w/ them. I mean come on we're 17 I don't think we need a faster car than what we have now... But i just got a stillen intake and z-tube for the sound w/out them knowing. ( i know i'm a rebel aren't i?)..They don't really do much for hp increase.
