1 inch crack in the dash

Just noticed this today during a cleaning, but there is about a 1 inch crack...barely separated, but still there...is there any way to stop this from going any further? probably cant fix the crack thats already there, but if theres any way to prevent it any more, i could appreciate the help...

thanks guys

Got a pic? Can you get to the inside of it? If so id use plastic weld on the inside of the crack, perhaps take the edge of an old cc and do a very thin line on the outside of it as well...but typically using that on the inside of the crack will help quite a bit! Its just a small tube that after about 10-15 minutes gets rock hard. I use it on plastics alot, just cover your nose cuz its pretty potent stuff....probably not healthy to be breathing in alot

Sadly that's a common issue on our cars. I just noticed I got my first one just to the right of the steering column above the silver trim on my 05 sedan. I'm going to try digital sol's fix to see if that stops it from spreading.

Take dash off, get a cheap plastic welder from harbor freight, weld it from the back side.

I plastic welded my front lip to my bumper on my G37, trust me it holds.

^^hmm can you do this from the front? I have a spot on the side at the door area to try this on.^^

if ur right about the plastic trim, finish it off and cut it downwards into the trim to keep it from spreading across or up, and run some blk or be fancy with felt tape all the way across the dash about 1/8 inch tall if ur lucky to not have it too far from the plastic trim. Thats my plan,, I hadnt directed my tear downwards tho yet, even tho its my own advice im scared to do it.

Its ok. I noticed mines after I brought it home too.

Will look like crap if you do it on the front.

Soldering iron will do the job as well if you don't want to spring for the plastic welder. Some filler helps

Basically you just melt the crack back together. But you gotta do it from the flipside

thanks for the response guys...not real sure im gonna be able to take the dash off...i think i will try the first method mentioned and hope it doesnt get worse for now...if i was more mechanically able i would do the dash thing, but i think i would do more harm than good
