bad sound coming from front wheels *help*

Hey Guys,

So i did a complete brake job on the G35 coupe so this means pads and rotors all the way around.

well the car drove perfect and had great braking after the install for about 3 weeks until now.

Car drives fine and brakes, but when I apply a little heavy footing to the brake, it makes a part on part contact sound.... to describe it sounds like "clack clack clack" and slows down in repetition when the car slows down, so it leads me to beliebe it has something to do with the spinning mass. Not sure what to look into and its starting to get really cold here, so DIY kinda sucks right now

Also, the tire pressure light came on.... I filled the tires all the way to spec.. light hasnt gone off.... any ideas on that either?

THanks for the help in advance guys!

Check to ensure your lugnuts are tight. Sounds like it'd be that in all honesty. There's no reason why your brakes would be fine for 3 weeks and all of sudden be metal to metal unless you've been tracking the car.

How old is your car? Tpms sensor lifespan is only ~5-6 years. I had one replaced last year at 6 years age... the noise could be lugs or caliper bolts not tight or cross threaded. Did you start the caliper bolts by hand before using a socket? Or it could be a seized caliper not closing and allowing the pad to bounce back and forth between rotor and caliper

Did you properly grease all the contact points of the brakes?

If your car is driven everyday, any brake issues will materialize within a couple of days if not immediately. I don't think it has anything to do with brakes.

Did you include the shims as well?

I second this.. if you forgot to put in the shims, Or didn't have the spring retainers that hold the pads in place you can get this sound...

when you replaced the pads & rotors, did you do a proper breakin proceedure?

failure to properly breakin new pads & rotors can ead to warped rotors or pads not setting correctly which ultimately leads to weird noises...

have someone drive your car and apply the brakes.. you stand outside the vehicle and listen to which wheel its coming from. Shouldn't be too hard to diagnose which wheel is making the noise.

Take off the wheel, ensure all bolts are torqued correctly and that the caliper guide pins aren't seized, check if the caliper itself isn't seized, torque lug nuts correctly. If you still have noise then maybe get your rotor resurfaced.

thanks for the responses guys. I took the entire front apart again and regreased everything as well as checking wear so far. Everything seemed normal. However I dont have any idea was shims are for these front brakes. Nothing was seized and all actuated properly. Put everthing all back together and drove around. the TPMS light eventually went off and then no longer than 5 minutes after that there was no more clunking at all?

Im kinda lost guys, now the car drives and brakes just fine without any noise at all.

what is the proper brake in for these brakes?

Thanks for all the help! im so new to this car, there are so many things I do not know
