I'm looking for a used G35 coupe. How can I tell if the car has the sport package or not? What rims are on the sport packaged cars?

 

Sport package is new for 05. You may be thinking about the Tire & Performance package which includes the VLSD in pre-05 models. In this case, all 6mt models come with the stiffer suspension (and VLSD). For the autos, if the car has 18 inch wheels (with Pilot Sports) then it has the VLSD and stiffer suspension.

 

Just to clarify. All coupes, no matter the year that have 17's or 18's from the factory have the same original regular suspension. Only a 05 coupe equipped with 19's, whether optional or standard get's the stiffer sport suspension package. No 03 or 04 coupe has ever come out of the factory with a stiffer suspension option. Only a 05 coupe with the sport suspension can take that honor.

 

Is it the sedan that has a different suspension if you get regular vs sport package? The VLSD only comes with the Tire and Performance package for autos though.

 

Yes, but until the 05 coupe sport suspension, all coupe suspension's were the same. Any 05 coupe with the sport suspension get's stiffer shocks, springs and stiffer sway bars, the telltale being the 19" rims. Didn't Infiniti remove the VLSD from the 05 tire and wheel package.

05 sedan's with the sport suspension get VLSD, even the auto equipped cars now. All sedan's get the stiffer sway bars for 05 too.

 

2004's sport have brembos and 18 inch.

2005's sport have 19 inch rims

for sedans I dont know.

 

Their's no such thing as a 2003 or 2004 coupe with sport. Either you got a 6MT or a A/T with the tire and wheel package, neither of which were termed sport. Only with the 2005 coupe do we see the term used. Infiniti has alway's used the generic term "G35 sports coupe" in thier marketing of the car.

Sedan's with the optional sport suspension can be visually ID as follow's
2003-2004 5-spoke alloy's
2005 18" tires and wheels

Coupe's with sport can be ID'd as follow's
19" oem tires and wheels.

 

Yes I know that, but he says he wants a used G35 so by that, I suppose he means 2004 or previous. I know there is no sports package, but he might have been refering to normal Coupes and Bremboed plus 18 inch rimmed Coupes.

I realize this thread is 18 years old, but for clarity, the 2003 was available with "sport suspension package", and factory rims are a 5-spoke vs. the standard 6-spoke wheels. Exactly what else is included, I am not sure, but I know it has a beefy front sway bar.
