Thumbs up small review of filter

I've been using Gordgee's HEPA/Charcoal Carbon Cabin Filter for 10 months now, and have driven 13,000 miles since the switch.

What is the difference between the stock filter and Gordgee's filter?
Gordgee's filter:
1) has about a 50% more dense Gauze/Paper filter element with more folds and thicker gauze/paper.
2) has a HEPA element which blocks molds, pollen, and other allergy-causing particles.
3) has an Activated Charcoal Carbon element which significantly reduces and absorbs all types of odors.

The stock filter is made of white cheapo paper filter, which was BLACK when i removed it after 15,000 miles. It was greasy-looking like Tar.
My initial impressions of Gordgee's filter were great, no musty Air condition smells, and road smells were reduced by about 90%
There was still a very small smell when driving behind diesel semi trucks, or through the airport, but the smells were not as strong as they would normally be. Again, about 90% reduction in smells alone.

The HEPA filter is great too, definitely keeps the pollin in check.

After 13,000 miles i think its time to change my filter, so I just ordered 2 more from Gordgee
They are easy to install, you just have to remember to plug in the airbag cable securely, i didnt and the airbag light came on so i had to take it apart again and reseat the cable properly (unplugging this wire makes installing the filter super EASY)

Well if anybody has any questions feel free to post here or PM me

For the price that Gordgee offers the filter for, buying the flimsy stock filter is NOT worth it. Pay a few bucks more and get Gordgee's filter. Its worth it!

FYI, if you unplug the airbag sensor and don't plug it back in correctly and you start the car, GO STRAIGHT TO THE FAQ forum and find out the easy way to reset the airbag light. If you turn off the car and re-hook up the airbag harness the airbag light will NOT go off!

I did this accidentally when I installed my filter on my G and thanks to the FAQ forum I saved $90 at the local Infiniti dealership.

THE FAQ RULES!!! One more reason to love Driver!

This site lists the OEM filter for just $7.50.
http://www.drivewire.com/infinitipar...airfilter.html

So, reading down this thread, it seems like there are three filters available for in-cabin: 1) OEM microfilter (and aftermarket); 2) active charcoal (reduces odors); and 3) the Gordgee's charcoal/HEPA combo. Obviously the latter is great. But between 1 & 2, is the microfilter better if you are not having any odor issues?

My dealer replaces all the filters when I get the check up and oil change every 4k miles (which is free too).

I got mine and just installed it. It is hard to tell it is indeed OEM(it does have "nissan" on the side. But for 7.50 I am not going to complain.....

Just my $0.02.
I don't think an activated charcoal filter would help remove odors from AC. The AC odors generally come from mold and other crud buildup around the AC evaporator coil. That coil is downstream of the filter, so how would it help eliminate odors?

I've been in plenty of cars that didn't have fancy filters for the a/c. I had my Civic Si for 6 years without changing any stinkin' filter. So I can't see the need to change a filter now. As soon as I step outside the car I'll be breathing in the same old nasty air I've been breathing for 28 years anyway. I'll save my money.
