6mt Coupe Exhaust HELP

Hey guys I recently purchased a 04 6mt coupe and I noticed the exhaust was a bit "weird" and hanging but I got the car for a good price so it did not bother me at the time. When I got the car lifted to take a look at it I noticed it was not the OEM exhaust it was a Quiet Flow exhaust
Amazon.com: Walker 54647 Quiet-Flow Stainless Steel Muffler Assembly: Automotive Amazon.com: Walker 54647 Quiet-Flow Stainless Steel Muffler Assembly: Automotive
this is a link to just the muffler but I have it all the way down to the cats.

HERE IS A VIDEO OF MY EXHAUST: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ec3vk57lv...2019.12.45.mp4
THIS IS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ac8nkeo3l...2004.48.18.mp4

I am now interested in buying a new exhaust and since I am located in Canada and my budget is less than $500 I have few options:

1. Used OEM exhaust selling for $150 https://www.dropbox.com/s/784eoawj1l...20manifold.jpg
2. Or this ebay HKS replica & buy a magnaflow x pipe http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-7-DUAL-BUR...-/221258440785
3. Order any other cheap exhaust from the US and get it shipped to a holding place in the US and drive down and pick it up.

I read that the X02 catback was a good option for a low budget but I cant seem to find them anywhere and not sure if they ship to canada. This ebay one looks just like it and it ships to Canada for $70. all together the used oem would be $150 and the HKS knockoff would e $344. What do you guys think I should do?

Stay away from the replicas
A dude is selling an authentic Hks in the marketplace for 600. A bit out of your budget but there's other used, quality setups for less I'm sure (on the app-can't see prices sometimes)

This is one very rare time where I would say the authentic version ( HKS ) is NOT the way to go, I'm remote but there are pictures of the HKS H-pipe that show how awful the construction is. By comparison the HKS reps (many many options, the current "it" version is the Godspeed) have better flow capabilities. MOST people will recommend you spend the extra money and "modify" the Replicas with a Magnaflow H-muffler. This will dramatically change the sound, (both the rep and the hks are very raspy)

Here is a thread..

https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-...pipe-crap.html

As I said quite a few folks have done the replica with magnaflow H-pipe, I have not so I'm just polling what has been reported, and been very happy. We have a local here who is putting the magnaflow pipe on his replica in the near future and I will update this reply as soon as I see the results.

Hope this helps

An old OE exhaust or replica, you're better off with what you have until you can find a quality used cat-back system at a reasonable price! Keep watching on our Marketplace and attend Infiniti meets in your area once it thaws out. Possible that one of our members in your area might have a system for sale. Good Luck & Enjoy the ride!

Thanks for the input, so your recommending me to get the replica + a magnaflow resonated x pipe?

I'm not really recommending the replicas, There are quite a few proven exhausts which will provide gains and great sound (Motordyne, ARK, Stillen) etc. However of your options I am just warning you against overspending on the HKS as it is not a very good exhaust IMO. Check what Gary said above and keep doing your homework on what you want to get out of your exhaust and we can better assist in the process. (Do you want gains, looks, sound, a combo of the above, etc etc etc.)

What jooky said is definitely a downside to Hks. I have it paired with my ART pipes and I love the sound however. What you have to take into account as well is the sometimes chitty welds on the rep exhaust. Also the tips like to discolor. Hks hi power tips are titanium...or so they say

Still would like to hear an HKS with the ART pipes and magnaflow mod done...only have heard rep hks+ magnaflow

^^I agree on wanting to hear a modified HKS, but no one wants to chop up an $1800+ exhaust lol

Well my budget is tight so I don't really mind having a oem exhaust but kinda scared to buy a used oem one, the picture I linked is the exact one I was looking at. I also HATE the way the quiet flow looks on this and it does not sound that good. I like the sound of the x02 exhausts I have heard on ebay and this ebay one I linked seems like the same thing. If I do buy the ebay one is a magnaflow x-pipe required? and will the costs of labor go up even higher if I have them chop up this exhaust to add the x-pipe?

Understandable, up to you how you approach it for now. I personally would rather save and wait for a sale/deal on a used, rather than jumping into a "good for now" mod. (unless it's a blow tyre or something lol)

Nothing is "required" you can run a plain jane xo2 and see how you like it, the magnaflow option will always be avail, most folks around here have seen shop prices to cut and weld in the new h-pipe between $40-$100 (US) depending on the shop so search around, it may not be that expensive at all to "modify" it. (btw the h-pipe costs between $70-$150, just gotta look at who's to the "deal" at the time you are looking)

Alright thanks for replies! so should I buy the ebay one now and see if I like it and if I don't just buy the x pipe and fix it or just buy both the pipe and the exhaust at once and get it installed from the start?
(Don't think I will have enough money to get a real one even the used ones are 600+)

Up to you, and your wallet!

If you don't get a "combo deal" for buying both at the same time, then the sky's the limit
