My issue started this way. Then it led to only opening or closing if I used the switch while simultaneously slamming the door. When that began to fail I ended up closing my door so hard I ripped my interior door handle clean off. After I took the motor apart I could see the brushes were worn to the point they were hardly making any contact. No amount of cleaning could help my scenario.
