True, the 04 has a higher PEAK torque, but the 05 has a broader curve, both at the low and high end, thus having more total area under the curve, and making it faster.

But, hey, if that extra 10 ft-lbs at peak make you feel better, more power to ya.

well said, my thoughts are the same!

quite honestly why would the powertrain engineers degrade the engine for a new model year?

The scenario,

Pre 05 owners: 18hp doesn't make a differance: but never-the-less I've spent $ on intake, exhaust, or fill in the blank to get that 18hp. So why buy this stuff if 18hp doesn't make a differance???

Brakes: Brembos rule. Why?, because the're gold colored. Until there is hard data on distance and esp. fade, how could you make these statements (esp with some of the wear issues I read?) Don't get me wrong, Brembos are typically badass -and I'd like 'em on mine, but without knowing the 05 #'s how can you compare? Running stock pads or upping to hot pads for events may yield the same or better results... Damn! When will C&D, R&T, or another reputable run a review on the 05'?

I'm not trying to say one is better than the other: I just won't do so until hard #'s come out. And thanks to whoever said, "Look at the power under the curve", not everybody out there realizes that's the world we drive in... not at some exact point in the curve. My $0.02.

I believe there's a dyno day ($40 vs. $80) coming soon in my area, hopefully I can post the numbers for my '05. Then again, we will all argue, dyno-to-dyno results, low miles on the engine (>1.2k but less than 5k), etc. But, hey, that's why were here . Happy motoring to those not stuck in rain for the next week!

Not to start a flame war but go to your local Infiniti dealership and look at the number of Q56's in for bad brakes and then ask the question again.......

no Q56's in my local dealership for brakes over the past few weeks, I know, I've been there almost every day.. and this is Boston, lots of Infiniti SUV's on the road! (my wife has one..)

I'd have to agree with GeeImFast on this one, the brembos are good brakes, but unless your on the track they're not going to make a difference. As for the looks, anyone can paint their brakes, its one of my favorite things to do with my past Corvettes (paint to match the body, they look great!).

Mind you that the brembo's on the G are pretty much the bottom on the line for BBK systems; there more room to upgrade them than to downgrade on the Brembo product line, so any aftermarket BBK will top the stock ones dollar for dollar.

According to the Infiniti brochures, the '04 6MT weighs 3,435 lbs while they say the '05 6MT weighs 3,512 lbs, which is a gain of 77 lbs. Where did this extra weight come from?

probably from the 19inch wheels, oem brakes, and slight engine/suspension changes

That would be me that said tha. The curve is what you always need to look at, not some abstract point. Mnost car magazines are both good and bad about this. They will publish teh torque and HP curves, but the title of the article will scream "Gained 18 RWHP!!!!!" when in reality, that gain was only at one point, and the majority of the rest of the curve is lower, with a resulting less amount of area under the curve.

But hey, if it makes the 04 owners feel better, yes, you have more max torque than the 05's. Me personally, I could care less, I will enjoy my G

not exactly. The 05s added exhaust timing is suppose to give it a broader torque curve, not the 04s. Feel like your car is running out of gas past 5000rpm? the 05s is SUPPOSE to fix that.
