Need help modding my g35

Hello everyone, This is my first post on the website. I have a 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe 5AT with Sports Package (19" rims and spoiler) all stock.

I love my car but I think its time to do some mods to it with out spending too much. I have done some research on this forum and I came up with two mods that I want to do. Please let me know what you guys think.

I decided to go with a Stillen Z-tube and Drop in K&N for around $100 and a Motordyne Plenum Spacer 5/16" for about $180.

Or

Should I go with a more expensive cold air intake or a z-tube with a pop charger and spend less on the Plenum Spacer and buy a Blox 5/16" for around $100.

Please let me know what you guys think. I haven't found any positive or negative reviews on the Blox Spacer. I also live in Ontario Canada, so I don't I need to worry about the Copper iso intake.

Thanks in Advance

Thanks for the quick response. I was definitely leaning towards option 1. I just didn't know about the drop in air filter and if a cone one would be better.

Is there any bad reviews on the Stillen Z-Tube? Not working as good as OEM or clamps breaking etc....?

Exact same thing, but easier to pass off as stock if you have to sell quickly.

Option 1 for sure! You can add all the bolt-ons available, if you include an intake that's metal it will cost you major whp during warm weather...like now! It's called "Heat Soak" our VQ motors hate hot air...Gary

rev up air box with oem ztube is the best bet. im running a paper filter (amsoil) much healthier for your engine.

Are paper filters really better for our cars?

Instead of buying the Z-tube and K&N drop in kit for $100, should I just buy the Z-Tube for $60 and use the paper filters?

Also, are the Rev-Up Air Boxes worth $100? Do you see noticeable difference (performance, sounds???)

There isn't much you can do intake wise that will give you a lot of hp. Unless you go forced induction and that's more than you want to spend. I would look into a hood that has heat exchangers (this allows the heat that builds up in the engine bay to escape) thus lowering the temperature a little. I would also find a way to help the engine run cooler a cooler engine makes more power and it prolonges engine life. Also look into a new (or new to you exhaust) that will allow more exhaust gases to escape. Your best bang for you buck will be suspension work, nothing too elaborate just a small drop and sway bars will keep you smiling and wanting more seat time in your "G". Also a set of wider wheels and tires will increase the contact patch on the road which will increase grip, stopping power, cornering, better wet performance, acceleration.

You just mentioned the most expensive ways possible to change the driving experience.

Motordyne Iso thermal spacer and z tube on OEM intake is :boobies:.

I just bought the MD Plenum Spacer (Not the ISO Thermal since I live in Canada). And I bought the Stillen Z-Tube without the drop in K&N. I will keep an eye out for a Revup Air Box for the future.

Thanks for everyone's help!

What improvements should I see with these mods? HP Gains, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile?
2005 G35 Coupe 5AT with MD Plenum Spacer 5/16 and Stillen Z-Tube with Non-Revup Air Box.

What do you mean exactly by 'all your Boltons' what am I missing?

How do I do a tune exactly? is that just resetting the ECU with the pedal trick or do I have to take it to a garage and get it professionally tuned?

Performance isn't all about horsepower numbers. Improving your cars handling ability along with improving your driving ability will be well worth it when adding horsepower.

Take rev up plenum off that list. Swapping a revup plenum into his 5at is more detrimental than anything. Unless you're thinking MREV2 which in his case isn't necessary either
