G35 overheating.. Cant find the problem
Since you had the thermostat changed there could still be air in the system. It usually takes me about an hour or two to get the car operating without any heating/temp issues after introducing air into the cooling system.
Hey guys I'm still having this problem.I have another car so its not a big deal but I kinda want it fixed. A few months I changed 2 of the cooling fans relays, should I change the 3rd and hope that fixes it or just take it to a shop? It will always heat up if it sits or drives at low speeds for 5-10 minutes but as soon as you start driving it immediately goes back down. A few people said there could still be air in the system. How do I bleed it?
Austin, while the engine is at idle and begins to over heat do the fans come on? That's an indication of where the problem lies. Bleeding air from the radiator...Search!

yes the fans always on. They are not spinning very fast though. One is usually turning faster than the other but both are still fairly slow.

What year is your car? Did you check for coolant circulation or hoses collapsing?
Don't spend money on the third relay, if both fans are running then the circuits are working. Bleed the system as recommended by the other guys. Based on what you are telling us on how the fans are running, I suspect a fan problem. One should not be slower than the other, the fans are either on or off, there is no in between speed. Have you checked for obstructions/ blockage of the condenser/radiator cooling fins?

I just talked to him again. He has never worked on an Infiniti and didn't want to get stuck in the middle of fixing it but said he would give it a try. He asked if I could print him off the wiring schematic and any other diagrams that would help. Does this site have any that I can download? He thinks it could be the fan clutch because one of the fans doesn't run at all and the other just runs at a low speed.
Here is a link to an excellent manual, I bought one to do the work on my 2003. The wiring schematics are descent good enough for troubleshooting.

I don't think there is a clutch, these are electric fans. They are either on or off, I could be wrong on this, I would have to research this further. In any case, RockAuto.com has a fan assembly for $100+shipping. Hope this helps.

The fans could have bad bearings or worn parts causing them to turn slow due to drag. You can try and see if there is any play in the fans (Engine NOT Running) by grabbing the center hub and moving it up and down or side to side, there should be no play. The fans should spin freely with no resistance at all when spun by hand. If it was me, and I was going to gamble on throwing parts at it, the fan assembly would be my candidate. I base this on all your comments concerning the fans running slow.
It's like this, If you spend money on the fan assembly and it does not fix the problem, that is one part the dealership can't tell you is the problem when you take it in.
Are these the original fans, how many miles on the car?
To be clear, I am simply making an educated guess that your problem is with the fans since you have ruled out the bleeding issue. For me the Rockauto option would be a cheap enough gamble. I have no way of knowing for sure from far away though. The dealership or a true good shop would be your next best bet. Keep in mind that if they say the fans are the problem now you are going to pay their fan price and the labor, which my guess will be between $250 and $500 total. I hope this has been helpful information.
!Good Luck!
It seems like this problem is taking alot of your time and money. And paying insurance monthly for a car you cant drive isnt really good either. Its cool calling different mechanics but if I were you I would prob go ahead and take it to a diagnostic to infiniti dealership. They cost 130 but at least you will know for sure. Because buying some other parts and paying for the labor can easily go above 130 and if they didnt solve the problem then you have wasted your time and money...just bite the bullet. see what infiniti says, find a specialized body shop, buy the part for cheap online and ask the specialized body shop to replace it for you. This is the most definite and least expensive route to go with a problem like overheating.
