HELP ASAP !! Popcharger Cleaning
Hey guys,
I am going to clean my popcharger today and had a question.
So once you clean it with 409 and rinse, then you put on the popcharger oil,
How long do you have to wait before you can put the popcharger back on the z tube. Do i even need to wait????
thanks guys

I hope this isn't to late. I Just cleaned mine out the other night. I got home about 2am. Sprayed it cleaner, let it sit for about 5 minutes. Re-sprayed it with cleaner and then proceeded to rinse it out with the hose. I layed it in my garage for the night to dry. When I woke up the next morning, I put it outside for about an hour to let it dry some more. After the pop charger was dry, completely, I then re-oiled it and let it sit in the sun for about an hour. I wouldn't use the pop charger for at least 6-8 hours to allow all the water and moisture to come off of it. you dont want water in your engine.

According to the K&N reoiling instructions a "dirty filter" allows for better air flow. (Sounds weird doesn't it). They recommend cleaning the filter every 50,000 miles, but they don't account for areas with a lot of construction, high pollen counts, etc...
I clean mine once a year and when I do I usually give it a 1-2 day wait before use. The cleaning is quick and easy. The air dry takes maybe 4-6 hours in the FL sun. The reoiling is the part where you want to be careful.
I reoil the outside of the cone filter only. From there let the oil absorb through the filter. When finished, stuff a lint free diaper rag inside of the filter and let it absorb the excess oil. After waiting over night take a paper towel and wipe the pleats on the outside of the filter and see how much oil, if any, comes off. If you touch the filter it should feel oily, but you should not visibly see any oil on your fingers.
It's a good idea to install the filter, drive for 15 or so miles and then take 2 minutes and inspect the inside of the intake tube. Just loosen the pipe clame around the filter base and slide the filter off. If there are any signs of oil inside of the intake tube, clean it out IMMEDIATELY and repeat the diaper rag and paper towel instructions above.
