exactly my point! but when I shifted fast from 1st to 2nd it spun out of control.......could it be the stock tires aren't sticky enough?

Im just trying to find out what everyone else does to combat this problem.

hmm..i dont know then. when shifting fast from 1st to 2nd, theres a brief spin of the tires. but it shouldnt be any majoy loss of control. the only time i almost lost control going from 1st to 2nd was when i was taking a turn. now...that was fun!

Just shift slightly slower, or you may try shifting from first to second a tad shy of redline.

Its way too easy to get a hard bark out of the tires in this car. Kinda crazy that they can be chirped 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, bone stock.

When are you taking it to the track?

Actually RWD is what really gives you the effect of pressing you back into your seat, the reason why the G35 doesnt really do that is its weight !

Actually I think the G35 and the Acura weigh pretty much the same......but the G feels lighter, more nimble.

That sucks though, it will hurt my 1/4 mile time....maybe i need to invest in some better tires.

Or look at tires with better traction.

And if it's the concern of running a traction-limited time at the track only, traction conditions are much better than the street.

They weigh approx. the same, but the G is an awesome handling car due to the lower stance, stiffer suspension and so on. If you drive a 350z, you'll notice that it handles even better but other factors are sacrificed.. I too have noticed that the G seems less peppy off the line, you got to get used to the throttle-by-wire. I didn't know about RWD slamming you back into your seat, I know my car does so BIG time and it has nowhere near the G's power, I haven't noticed that feeling to the same extent in the G. It's just the effect that's created.

what do you drive.

this is true, the track should be less slick.

And for some, (myself included ) having gratuitous wheelspin available in 2nd gear is a good thing.

Hi-power RWD (g35 borders this category stock) is all about being able to modulate the throttle to maintain the razor edge between good acceleration (slightest hint of wheelspin) and all-out loss of traction. Traction Control can do the job for you, but with much less drama. (<-a bad thing ) Find your limit of adhesion and soon you'll learn to skirt it all the way through 2nd, allowing you to put the most power down as possible and run a quicker time.

Traction Control = NO! I don't want that on, that will make me even slower.

Today i did a hard 1-2 shift and only chirp mildly, maybe i had a little water on my tires last night...
