Windshield Washer Fluid
What kind of windshield washer fluid do you use?
I am looking for something that does not leave a residue. The blue and pink fluids always seem to leave colored stains behind. The car came with a clear liquid (couldn't just be water?) but I cannot find any clear fluid to refill. Freezing temps are not an issue since I live in Central Florida.

yea i am using pink rain x bug remover washer fluid... and i regret it since its leaving pink color stains on the A piller and driver side door... since i have an IP coupe its really easy to see the pink spots and they are b**** to rub it off too...I would like to know which one are safer to use
Tony,
I use the blue fluid in the wifes sequoia, but in the G coupe I only use water. I've asked if they sell a clear solution and I've found the answer to be NO! From what I've been told, the products are colored with a dye to prevent people from drinking them. Apparently a clear fluid is too easily mistaken with water and if people drank the window cleaner there is a potential for lawsuits.
I wonder if there is a product you could add to the cleaner to dissolve the blue tint? Maybe a chemist could chime in here...

Google on " windshield washer solvent " and the very first hit is for:
"Windshield Washer Solvent (RTU)
Description
A sparkling clear windshield washer cleaner that is economical and easy to use. This product does not freeze to -20oF
> ...
A simple spray application followed by a dry wiping cloth or squeegee is all that is necessary to have crystal clear glass with no streaks. This product can also be put into the windshield washer fluid reservoir in your car or truck."

The Flash point you cited is for pure methanol - the additive found in most if not all windscreen washer solutions. Methanol is simply methyl alcohol, wood alcohol, or wood spirits. As you add more and more ethanol to water, the flash point is lowered and the freezing point is depressed.
For example a 20% solution of ethanol in water has a flash point of 110 degrees F and a freezing point of 20 degrees F.
If you don't want the first Google hit, try some of the other 8369 hits. My only point was that there ARE clear windscreen washer solutions on the market and they are not restricted to use in the northern part of Alaska. The tinted solutions sold also contain methanol and I guess somehow they work, even in Florida.
