CAI Heat Shield?

Just had a z-tube/CAI filter installed a couple weeks ago. At the time, I hadn't heard of the need for a heat shield for the filter on these cars.

Now that it's done, I'd like to buy a heat shield for mine, but cannot find a vendor that sells JUST the shield (they all seem to be the full kit only). Does anyone know where I could source an intake heat shield ONLY that will fit a Z1 Motorsports z-tube/CAI (pic of mine attached)?

Thanks, all.

Thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciate that invaluable information! For a second I was worried someone might reply in a really condescending douchey way, but I'm glad you put my mind at ease. Take care, chief.

Hm - thanks for the input anyway. I know the JWT intakes come with heat shields, but I was too new with the G to think to ask Z1 about that (the intake on my Z32 was under the nose between the headlights, so heat soak wasn't a concern). If anyone else can offer any advice as to whether I should just remove/replace the intake, or modify it, I'd appreciate the input! Thx.

Thanks guys. I guess I should've researched the benefits of a CAI before. It was a given that you should put one on with the Z32, but I'm seeing a lot of V35 guys stick with stock...

Leave it as-is, heat shield, our remove the new intake altogether?

Thanks!

A heat shield won't do you any good, you're already SOL! You bought a black metal intake that will cost you major whp the minute the outside temp reaches 80+ degrees. Had you done any research you would have discovered these words, "Heat soak!" Enjoy getting passed by a Prius at every stop sign!

Reversing the process isn't exactly an engine rebuild, Gary. Do you recommend going back to the stock airbox, then?

ive always been curious about heat wrapping the intake tube regardless what its made of, but maybe itll be a good idea with the metal pipe?. what about heat wrapping with the heatshield?

im just throwing ideas out here. by that time youd prlly be spending a whole lot of money lol. z tube with paper filter FTW.

Not a bad but you still have the exposed cone filter that no type of shield will keep from getting very warm. Buy a Z-Tube and a AMSOIL or K&N drop in filter and you'll have the best of both worlds...direct cool filtered air and a good sound from the z-tube!
