He meant car ignition in ON position, but engine NOT running...says same in the manual.

OEM battery is very adequate for OEM car. When you change the stereo system and add an amp or three, it is going to drain the OEM battery much faster - these parts run on a "standby" mode when they're off that gently drains the battery. When you've got aftermarket crap, all that stuff just sucks away at the battery.
Rule of thumb for aftermarket stereo modifications: as you improve/upgrade/replace your OEM electronics, you need to ugrade to a better battery with it. This is so painfully obvious that this thread shouldn't even exist.

As for your new battery, when you get a new battery installed, it is not charged well. You have to drive the car for 40-45 minutes straight to fully charge the battery. If you get the new battery and keep taking 10-15 minute drives, your battery will not be fully charged. Also, just having your car sit outside in the cold weather, the battery loses a third of its power. So on a non-fully-charged battery sitting in cold weather, it is very possible the car will not start. This is why it is important to make sure your battery constantly has a strong charge during the winter months.

Leavin it for 6 months + after market stuff helped kill your battery, but ESPECIALLY leaving it 6 months...you should always disconnect the power (RED) when letting it sit for more than a week. Even though you got it serviced, I guarantee you that your battery will never be the same, even if you drive 10,000 miles to charge it through the alternator; if left for a week it will be dead when you come back. Thats the reality with batteries. And since you are telling us this is your second time, I'd second guess your Sound system, yes YOURS, because the amp/subs might be drawing too much power, more than other peoples set-ups and thats why my friend we cannot go outthere and point fingers at whose setup works with OEM batteries and whose doesn't because you have a unique case.

I say get the freebie, and never let it sit connected for long periods again. But if your car is a weekend car, then I'm telling you it will happen again and thats where you make the call. I know money can be an issue, so I say give the freebie one more chance IF you drive the car every day. Oh and listening to an aftermarket system while the key is in the ignition but the car is NOT running is a big NO-NO. If you've done that, then make a note to self
P.S. The main purpose of a capacitor is to NOT draw current while the car is operating. Ultimately you won't see your dash lights and headlights dim when you hit hard bass at night. It does this by storing extra current so that you don't see the glitch. As far as power consumption, does nothing to better it.

I put a Optima yellow in my G. Just had to reposition the negative terminal so they could switch sides, and put a spacer in between the battery and the bracket to hold it down firmly.
One of my best mods so far, and maybe it's just me the but the bose sound system actually sounds better with it

Getting a better battery, if done right, may live out to expected life....yes even with that powerful son of a B w7 you've got there
And if it doesn't, you will ALWAYS have those free replacement warranties which are more than suffiecient these days (i.e. 3 years free replacement or more + 5-7 years warranty)...which you will def get with goin with a better battery. However, if there is a problem yet again, then:
1) your system draws way too much power and may need its own battery.
2) you've got an electrical problem with your car (i.e. excessive current leakage somewhere, but I HIGHLY doubt this)
P.S. Always choose maintenance free batteries because having to fill it up with water is a b**** to remember.
Goodluck man! PM me if you need further help.
