scratched door pulls.

My 2007 X has nasty looking interior door pull/switch bezels where it seems they were simply spray painted over white plastic at the factory. I searched the forum for a solution and found a lot of discussion but very little help as the threads seemed to degenerate into idle chatter. I looked for a sticky with no luck. The two questions I have are will OEM replacements (on eBay) end up looking the same way or has there been a product improvement? Also, what is the safest way to pop off the switch bezel without damaging it or the surrounding door card? Also has anyone tried to repaint with Krylon Fusion.

You are able to remove and repaint. If you have the skills, if not pay the small bills.

There is no paint code for the "aluminum" door pulls/other interior parts. I've been looking for years and trying to paint match. I'm sure a paint store could come close, but I don't want "close".you can either:

Find a different silver and paint all the aluminum interior parts (seat motor buttons, shifter accent, stereo bezel, door handles/locks, etc) or

Buy new pulls and spray very heavy clear coat on them. They will scratch just as bad if you don't heavily clear coat them.

Yeah, for my coupe they were $60 for both from the dealer. Just wished I would have cleared them first. I just thought the previous owner wasn't careful enough, but there's no way to not scratch those damn things.

I'm not a major fan of C/F but a long while ago I noticed my door pulls taking a hit so I covered them with one sided C/F. They became invisible, I don't even notice they're covered...my lazy way out. Gary

I thought they updated those parts in later years for the 2nd gens to better materials.
