Minor rotor damage... need opinion

My rotors came in with a small damage done on the rear right rotor. It looks chipped but its actually a smooth surface. I was wondering if it's worth the trip to exchange for another one?

Not worth the trip. They would probably laugh at you for making a big deal about such a minor thing on brake rotors considering it's not even on the useable surface of the rotor.

Hey bud you pay for new rotors. That is a defective one. Yes it's worth the trip to go get it replaced. And if someone laughs at you remember is your money paying for that rotor not theirs.. That rotor can eventually develop a crack..

If those are rears you will likely need to send them back.

It is a personal call. You didnt pay for defective rotors, entirely within you right to request unblemished. Also, as stated, the chip impacts nothing.

It is indicative of a casting flaw, not post processing. Which could mean bad cast and be prone to cracking, or it could mean nothing more than a small cosmetic flaw. Who knows.

This....

It' your call, I don't think it will affect performance, BUT, damnit you paid for new well cast/machined rotors. If you haven't removed your old ones yet, I'd replace it.

FML... Just had these rotors installed and now the tech said my rear right wheel bearing has gone bad.

He showed me how loose my wheels were jacked up. He quoted me $280 per wheel parts and labor. Fair price?

Is that just the bearing or hub too? Bearing costs about $80. The hub runs about $150. Labor rate is usually 80-100 an hour. No way it is a 2 hour job. If he is only replacing the bearing, you're getting ripped off. If he is replacing the hub, it's a good deal.

A quality manufacture wouldn't have let this rotor out of the warehouse! That's a casting defect even though it might not effect the life of the rotor...return it!

In my situation, would replacing bearing fix the issue or would it require hub as well? He made it sound like if I drove my car any further I'm risking my wheels flying out while driving.

It is an indentation in the rotor or just a blemish on the finish of the rotor?
Cant tell on the pictures and based on you'r description.
If it's just blemish in the finish, I would not worry about it. If it's is actually indentation in the rotor, then it's worth the concern.
