Cabin filter inlet?

Just bought a 2005 G35 coupe. Looking under the hood I noticed in the battery bay that I can see the cabin filter through a inlet in the firewall.
Is this normal? Seems odd to me that Infiniti would pull fresh air through or by the battery?

That's it.


I agree with your logic, but it is a sealed battery so if operating properly, nothing to worry about.
