Change 05 Coupe Headlight TO 06 Coupe Projector Headlight

Just picked up a pair of 06 coupe projector headlights for my 05 coupe. Can I re-use all the wiring and ballast? Do I only have to change the bulb? Anything I should be unware of?

Thanks,

The bulb type is stamped on the front of the lens, so you can answer that one. You should be able to reuse the ballast unless there is an issue with your current one.

Congrats on picking up some projectors though! You won't regret the purchase because you can see now .

Pull the battery cable off before you change stuff out.

Ballast you can re-use but your projectors didn't come with wiring? My guess would be your old wiring wouldn't work. The HID, fog light, turn signal bulbs are different. HID bulbs are D2S, fogs are H1, and turn signal is an amber 7440.

When I installed my 06 projectors, all I had to do is swap the ballasts and get new bulbs... Everything else plugs in the same as the 05s.

Personally I would go with the factory Philips HIDs and Fogs. My bulbs are still original from 2006. Amazon sells them for a good price vs the dealer or auto parts store.

Bulbs and ballasts will work. I bought mine with no bulbs or ballasts, and just put in my 04 (reflector) bulbs and ballasts. This is a 100% guarantee.

you can use d2r bulbs in the d2s projector but you are hindering the performance of the projector as well as the color in the cut off. You will see a lot more light on the ground with a d2s bulb. Since you are already shellin out money for the projectors, id go with good bulbs like the osram 66240 CBI but its like 150$~ for a pair. If you dont want to go so high, id recommend the philips 85122+. If you are going to order from ebay just be careful of fakes, buy from a trusted seller with high feedback.

Thanks! I will prob go for the Philips for the HID D2S -- how about the H1 fogs? any good brands?

Has anyone here had experience with the Diode Dynamics bulbs? Are they reliable?

*THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S HELP!

What temp are you guys using for the bulbs?

Philips 85122 = 4300K -- is that the best lighting in terms of visibility?

If I want a more white light, what temp should I go up to, without losing too much visibility.

Of course it works, that's why we call this upgrade "Plug & Play!" I was lucky enough to buy my projectors new in the box so they came with bulbs. Swap the ballast and a whole new world driving at night...you can see where you're driving!
