P0340 Camshaft position sensor
Okay....I think I got this mostly. Against conventional wisdom /advice /better judgement/ etc...I bought a cheap *** replacement sensor from eBay. (I know, I know)....of course it didn't work. But before I'm sure I have a few questions that I getting mixed answers on in my searching.
1. P0340 indicates Bank 1, which is the passenger side, correct?
2. Every time I call the dealer, the indicate that there are 2 per bank (4 total) , and that they may be different on the manual vs the auto. Is this true? I have a manual.
3. Which one is for the passenger (bank 1), the straight one, or the one with the angled connector? See pic...I replaced the angled one in the pic with the angled one from eBay....but the dealer, and a video I saw on YouTube indicate that the passenger side is the straight one....
4. I am headed to Auto zone now to get the one they say it is, and then going home to first test all the ones I have and try each of them until it goes away.
Any comments and/or experiencesare greatly appreciated.
Thanks

1. Bank 1 is passenger side.
2. Incorrect. There are two cam sensors and one crank sensor, which looks identical to the Bank 2 sensor. I do not believe there is any difference between auto and manual.
3. Passenger (bank 1) = the straight one. Driver (Bank 2) = Angled. Crank sensor = Angled
4. Do not use one from Auto Zone. Use OEM only...or you'll be doing it again fairly soon.
Finally, you'll need to clear the code once you install the new sensor.

Thanks VERY much for your comments. I now know exactly why what I did before didn't fix it.
I had replaced the passenger side crank sensor with a driver side cam sensor (the angled one ). I've now replaced the cam sensor now (the straight one). They are right next to each other.
I cleared the codes yesterday before I did this and have no code, as of now.
Thanks again.
