I have a '04 G35 Coupe with 249,300 miles with a very noticeable engine ticking noise. Here are two recordings....

Thanks for any input on what is causing this so I get an idea of what my strategy will be...hoping to prolong the life of this amazing vehicle another a year if not two!!

 

Sounds like possible worn rings or connecting rod bearings

Try doing a compression test.

I see either an engine rebuild or a trade in in your future
Start saving $$$

sounds like a valve clack. Low on oil??? had it on my car then I realized I was about a quart and a half low. If not then it's probably a con rod

 

That's pretty good that you got this many miles out of your G. Can you tell if it's coming from the top or the bottom of the motor?

Did it come on suddenly or has it been gradually getting worse?

 

I have 133,XXX miles on my 04 g35, and I have a similar tick, I was told that it was the lifters in my valve cover. They need to be gapped over time.
