Strange overheating problem with my 2003 g
OK , here's my problem. Car is overheating when in traffic, more so when the ac is on and in traffic. Once I get going a steady speed, it drops to normal temp and ac cranks. It started off only with the ac on, but now that it is summer, it is doing it without the ac on sometimes now. I emphasize the word sometimes... it does not do this every time I drive it.
Here's what I've done so far... new thermostat. new coolant, new radiator cap. I did some reading on other posts here... just want and looked at the fans. Car at idle, turn on ac and only PS fan comes on... no ds fan. If the car sits long enough with the ac off, the ps fan eventually turns on, but again no ds fan.
I do see a little coolant that has leaked out up towards the top of the radiator, passenger side. That's whey I originally thought it may be the cap, but no. I haven't done much more investigating yet... wanted to get some opinions.
Wondering if I need new fan(s) or just a new radiator? Obviously if there is a leak, I'd need a new radiator, but is it possible for the fan not working to force the leak, otherwise not leaking?
I've attached some pics hoping they are beneficial - any help is appreciated!
