Exclamation Make room for the new kid on the block...

Well I should say the new challenger on the block to the G35 is here. The G now has a more viable competitor.

I posted some pics some days ago and got mixed reviews...I now have better ones...thanks to Autoweek!

Ladies and gents....The new Lexus IS 250/350....

So tell me you guys...what do u think?

The GT version sounds interesting but the price tag will be way too steep to be considered any type of Infiniti competitor (unless you consider the GTR).

The lower end models appear to be somewhat fat and bloated, kind of like the newer BMW models... Still need to see it in person to know if I'll like it or not, but as of now I'm just not feeling it.

Why is this in the coupe forum instead of other cars?? but I post none the less..

the car looks nice, but not all that sporty. Thats where it loses me. The interior looks well put together with respect to materials and fitament. This wouldnt be the car I would buy. would be nice for the g/f to get it for the future family car heh.

Is it me or does it look like a cross between a Mazda6 and an Acura TL? The head on front and rear shots are ok, but I am not feeling the nose of the car from the side. IMO, the older IS looks better. For me, Lexus has always been to gaudy for me interior wise. That is why I got my G with the standard aluminum trim. It looks great! I guess I'll have to see the car in person. I saw a new GS and it looks good. However, I think the M looks better. Infiniti seems to be going there "own way". Meaning that they are trying to attract a buyer who wants a true sports sedan with great road feel. The Lexus cars just feel to "detached" to me.

I think I like it...Especially the rear angles...Its not often that I like the look from the back of a 4 door car...Performance numbers should be interesting on the 350 model, but so will the price tag...Lexus builds very quality cars but if the price is what I think it will be then there is no comparison with it and a G35...

Yeah...price definately would be a key issue. They are going after BMW with the 350 model...so my guess as anybody else's would be in the high $30k's to low $40k's

Let's just say I'm glad that I didn't wait for the new IS and bought my G.

And there ya go ......With that price range you're in M35 territory. So now there no question.

Thumbs up

I believe that the IS250 will be priced fairly reasonably for the category... I would imagine it would be in line with current IS300 pricing in the $30K range. Probably another $5K for the bigger motor IS350. I would say that for that price point the power is not there but the fit and finish is spectacular. I think they have also digressed a little in the sporty appeal that Lexus had with the previous IS. This does look alot like a Mazda 3 which runs in the teens. Not something a $30K+ pseudo-luxury car should emulate.

Already posted on the other thread (in other cars), but I don't like it. Looks like a Scion tC IMHO.

I doubt it would turn any heads driving down the street (now the G on the other hand ).

Where's the Coupe?

It looks like a Scion tC as the other posters have said.

Interesting way of numbering the speedo & tach.

I like the G's retractable nav display better than one that is always visible.

I'm glad Infiniti doesn't allow room for a European license plate on their cars. The plate area on the rear of the IS is so wide and should be on the bumper. Infiniti rules!
