Coupe 6MT Premium RAS
New rods, ARP fasteners, HR head gasket (and required block mods), if you want to be able to push the limitations of the stock assembly past ~425whp then you need these. If you're building for an immediate SC build then lower compression pistons as well to get the most boost.
The only engine (long block) modifications that will add torque are porting/polishing intake/head, different profile cams, different compression pistons. Everything else is just stronger components to be able to HANDLE added torque.
+.030 pistons my guess is somewhere in the +10-15hp range, cams don't necessarily make more "usable" power, they just shift the peak power range up or down depending on the profile but will show a +hp "gain" on the top end but it's typically reserved for racecars who don't ever see low rpm use like a daily driver will, +10hp at the high rpms, -15hp at the low end.
This is all accounting for a proper tune, stock tune you will see maybe half the expected gains.

They are doing everything you said and will be putting it on a dyno after and tuning it. It will end up costing around $7500 and thats about the limit of what I had to spend for now.they wanted to put crowley connecting rods in but they were 1100 dollars so i did a little research and found the eagles for less than half of that....eventually id like to add a super charger but that wont happen for a year or so.....the car had close to 200k on it and according to the shop the engine was clean when they broke it down. the 15hp gain you mentioned is that wheel horsepower? Id be happy with that. I'm hoping for noticeable gains with all thats being done and the amount of money I spent. Regardless i will have a fresh engine and thats worth what I spent regardless. i looked into purchasing a long block to have put in and that would have actually cost more with the install price.

Just make sure you are getting a 5/16" intake plenum spacer , rev-up air box, z-tube (or aftermarket like R2C), and a good high flow cat /test pipe, and some kind of exhaust. That and a tune are where the real gains are made.

already has an aftermarket exhaust and I asked them to find a plenum spacer after reading though forum posts....i told them motordyne but im open to suggestions. I just want to make sure i get the best bang for my buck while they have it broke down.looking to get it back around the end of dec. so will be a nice christmas present. Thanks for the help.

That’s my intention and also how I felt about the price versus gains. I talked to the machine shop yesterday and they are going with Ross pistons and Crowley cams. Ill post Dyno results when i get the car back.

I'm guessing Crowley=Crower. only thing I can think. What compression ratio are the pistons you are using in the build? If you are installing boost friendly (lower compression than stock pistons) then you will lose hp until you install the supercharger. if you are installing .030 over pistons with stock or higher compression ratio then you will see gains in hp regardless and even more with the supercharger later.
lots of non specific questions to be answered before you can quote power #s. give us some actuall specs on the cams, pistons..etc then we can talk.

Cam is a stage 2 crower, the pistons are Ross this is the info i found on them
Pistons:Bore 3.78, stroke 3.256, head cc 58, compression 8.5, dish/dome volume -10.5, weight 388 grams.
Cam: adv duration 264in/264exh, duration .050, 222in/222exh, lift 0.426in/10.82mm
Valve grind, ported and polished heads 5/16th plenum spacer.
Eagle connecting rods rated to 1500hp
Will be tuned after. I’m out of town working but will post pics of the car when i get home. I think the color is Caribbean blue. Other things like pumps hoses and timing chains being replaced, parts polished and resurfaced but i think thats the main stuff.

okay, so the Ross pistons are lower compression ratio of 8.5:1, but slightly larger at .030" over bore. The cams are mild, and it sounds like you have a great start for a FI built motor. Although, dropping the compression ratio on the pistons will actually make less power until a turbo or supercharger is installed and tuned.

I like that your doing it right and building for the future too many people throw FI on a car and then hope it wont pop. I'm curious though why SC instead of twins or a single Turbo, I lean to the turbo side but have always liked them and like to hear which routes people choose etc. I personally had a hard time trying to choose for what I wanted to do.
