Recommendation needed please. :)

Hi guys,

I did a little research and read back on the tire replacement for the coupes but I didn't really narrow down to one. I am at fairly new on this site as far as posting, but have been reading and gaining useful knowledges on our beloved G's. Anyway, it's time to replace my coupes rear tires. They are showing metals already! After I take off my snows I need new rears and I was wondering if you guys can give me some suggestions. As far as good performance, somewhat comfy and low noise. I can care a bit less on tread life since I know they will eventually need to replaced sooner or later again. Thanks in advance!

.... good performance, somewhat comfy and low noise.

Try TOYO. They fit the bill nicely.... pricely but nicely.
Good handling, nice ride 0 noise.

245-40-18 fronts and 255-45-18 rears........great setup for stock 18's! As far a tire recommendations, they are like a$$holes, everyone has an opinion! Tire Rack has lot's of surveys, try there? The guy above said the Toyo T1S have zero noise, I will say that is not true. Great tires so far, but after 3K miles or so, I started getting a front "drone" sound, pretty normal really, otherwise the tires are great! I put Falken FK451's on my stock 18's with the above setup sizes with great luck, they are quieter than the Toyo's for sure after a few miles! Good luck............best advise, do a bunch of research!

REVISEMENT: the guy above did not point out the T1S, he might have been talking about the Proxes (sorry for the mistake), I have no experience with those, I do know that they do not make bigger than a 245 though.

If your tires are starting to show the metal belts, I'd recommend changing them out right away. That's an accident waiting to happen.

Check out Toyos, Yokohomas, Bridgestone, Michelins....

Thanks guys for all your inputs. I found a set of rear Michelins size: 275/40/18. Does anyone know if they will be okay to match my OEM fronts 225/45/18? Again, thanks for your help!

275's are WAYYYYYY to big..............go NO BIGGER than a 255-45 for the rear and 245-40 for the fronts on stock wheels!

I think that 275's are a little large for your 18's. If i am not mistaken, i think your 18's are 8" wide, and i think the max you can squeeze onto that width is 245, and maybe 255's....

Thanks guys. So, I can put 255/45/18's on my rear (Hehe), to match with the stock fronts? Do you guys recommend getting a set of used tires? I found these pair, but I wasn't sure if I should get it. The only reason I'm considering them is because I don't know how long I will keep my car, and I didn't want to spend too much on new tires, you know?

Thanks again. You guys are great!

I think that putting 255's is pushing it....i know that on rims that i have that are 8" wide, i can get 225, 235, and possible* 245....some tire manuf. have built in curb rash protection, and have a sidewall that sticks out..so 255 with these would be pretty much impossible. As for getting a set of tires, the way i look at it is that when you do sell the car, you will have to lower the price if the buyer has to place new tires on the car anyways...plus, the tire is the only thing making contact with the pavement...i think a good tire is worth the $, but thats just me...

This whole tire setup on stock 18's has been discussed many times on this forum, do a search and you will see that the RIGHT and BEST setup for stock 18's is 245-40-18 fronts and 255-45-18 rears. Stock the car has 245's in the rear, so going with 245's on the front SIGNIFICANTLY decreases the understeer (and that is GOOD!) and bumping the rears to 255's adds a little more rear end grip. Here is a couple of pics of my car with this setup on stock 18's. Changing the front to 245's shows really no difference in appearance, the rear 255's fill in the wheels wells a bit better!

I have TOYOs and they work great! Very sticky tires...even in the rain! I would go with 245 in the rear.

Hey, I've read all the posts above. I have the stock 17s. Do you guys think i could get 245 front and 255 rear on the 17s, or would i have to go with 235 front and 245 rear? Stock on the 17's the car comes with 225 front and 235 rear. What offset would you recomend? Thanks for all your input.
