Lost lug nut key

Any advice on removing the security lug nuts without the key? On other cars, I've just hammered a big-*** socket on and used that to get it loose, but these things are unfortunately round on the outside.

My '06 coupe has the 19" wheels with the very-small cylindrical holes for the lugs. I'm not sure that a lug remover socket is going to fit, and am reasonably certain that the tire shop will trash the wheels getting the lugs off.

Take it to a few different tire shops and have them show you EXACTLY what measures they will take to help keep your wheels from being damaged. For OEM wheels I wouldn't suggest this but for very HIGH DOLLAR wheels I've drilled out the wheel studs from the back of the hub and then just replaced the hub.

$400 in hubs is a hell of a lot cheaper than risking damage to $10k worth of wheels...

EDIT: If they were properly torqued last time it's only 80 lbs they need to break, a universal remover with taped edges should suffice.

Weld a nut to the end of them and use that to spin them off with an impact. Maybe shield the surrounding wheel material with some sort of heat shielding\reflective material so the rims don't get too messed up if you're a sloppy welder.

Some wheel shops also have a master key that they can use to remove them, but you're going to have to fork over a bit of $$ to get them to do it for you.

Just call your road side assistance and tell them you have a flat tire, they usually will have all of those keys.

Try the wheel lock nut remover. You can buy it per piece as long as you know the size you need or buy the set.

Glad you found the lug nut key OP. From my experience, you would have to source a replacement from the local dealership.
