No power to aftermarket head unit
No power to aftermarket head unit
I’m in the process of trying to replace my head unit with an aftermarket double din. I’ve been heavily utilizing Wrathernaut’s guide. I have my head unit wired to a PAC ROEM-NIS2 wiring harness, which is then plugged into the harness for the factory Bose amp. The head unit does not turn on when the key is turned to the accessory position. I finally gave up after triple-checking everything and took it to my local Car Toys. The rep there was awesome, and hooked the head unit up to an independent power source to confirm it would turn on. He then took a multimeter out to my car to test the voltage of all the connections. When the car was on, there were only 2 volts coming from the factory harness. He finally admitted that he had absolutely no idea what could be going on. So I’m turning to you guys. What the hell is going on? The stock stereo worked completely fine before I started this install. I’m confused and frustrated...

My G is an 05. That harness is recommended by Wrathernaut and several other sources, and the pinout seems to match up. The output is only 2v before the harness, so I would think it’s probably fine.

Im not an expert but ive installed a lot of stereos before
Have you tried using a tester to find the remote wire and power wire ?
Look up the wiring diagram online and put the tester on the wire that suppose to be the 12v and remote with the key off then on
No power popped fuse.
Basic stuff to start off at? :-X

he said to check ground wire? and try grounding the radio directly, instead of it getting ground from the harness. alot of times the harnesses are too universal and not all pins are active. its just wierd that this install and all the same parts work for so many others.
thanks, I’ll give it a try.
