Recently started noticing a lingering gas odor after turning off my car. It's very faint, to the point of needing to lean into the area to smell the odor. I only noticed it when I was kneeling in front of the radiator and caught a faint whiff of it.
Now that signals a few things. A gas leak somewhere. It's only in the engine bay and it's super faint. No gas is leaking from any lines under the car- already checked. Gas tank okay. Fuel pump okay.
My thoughts were perhaps a gasket leak, but there was no pooling of gas in the engine bay- I checked right after shutting off the engine.
So is it maybe a fuel injector leak (in that case, I switch the O-ring). Is it the EVAP system?
I dunno if it's the fuel filters, those were replaced earlier this year.
Maybe it's the gas lines? I know they flex when running and maybe that eventually caused a leak somewhere?
Or maybe it's too high fuel pressure delivered by the pump?
What are your thoughts on this everyone? Ever had a similar issue?
The photos below illustrate where you can really smell the gas.

Hey all. So if you're still looking at this thread, I solved it. It happened to be the little couple that linked to the high pressure gas line. It had corroded and was leaking gas. You will need to raise the car up high to reach it. You also will lose about a liter (not sure how much that is in gallons....Canadian here) in gas. Have a small bucket handy to catch the fuel as it leaks.
I didn't get a picture of it nor could I find the exact diagram.
It is a small couple located on your G35 approximately where you see it on the diagram below. It was on the high pressure line and was somewhere behind and below the engine closer to the passenger side.
You will have to pull off the coupler and put in a new one. I can't recall the size again (I did this a year and a half ago) but just letting people know, this was not the gas damper that was leaking.
