To anyone who suffered from the faulty Throw out bearing.....

Well, its become blatently obvious my tranny is on its way out. Squeaks horribly when I just roll off the clutch and instantly becomes slient when I push the clutch in. Only one cause for this and thats the famous throw out bearing. This Thursday I'm bringing the car in to be checked out, as well as have the rear axle service and have my gas tank problem fixed (I believe this was blammed on the sender?).

Basically... Im just askin for a lil advice.....

To those of you who got a new transmission put in....

a) What did you say to the service tech
b) How much of a headache was it truely
c) Are you modded or stock
d) If modded, how much of an issue were you given
e) How long did it take for your new transmission to be installed
f) Anything that you think would help... please feel free.

Not about too drop my tranny at 32K because of a faulty part so Im not giving up until a new transmission is in my car. If I have to go 100% stock just to prove the point, I will, but if anyone has a link to the Magnuson? (mod vs stock vs warranty issue) Act I would greatly appreciate it to print it out.

Thanks in advance to everyone.

John

If it is indeed a Throw Out Bearing, you do not need a new tranny. The TO bearing is a wear item that should be replaced when you replace the clutch. It actually attaches to the clutch fork arm and pushes on the splines of the clutch itself. It's not really a part of the transmission.

I think Im having this same problem. I am going to call infiniti tomorrow to scehdule an appointment but though I'd check the forum first.

I have an 03 Coupe 6MT with 30K on it. About 500 miles ago I noticed that my clutch was getting tight, then it started making noises. When I turn the car on in the morning everything is ok, the problem generally starts after the car warms up. Then the problem will last all day. Though my problem occurs when I push it in and roll off the clutch. Its makes a grinding noise. I had this same problem with my old maxima so Im almost sure its something with the bearing or fork as well. I hope the dealership doesnt make me pay for this! Im surprised more people havent had this issue...

BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
That's what that noise is...I thought I was driving the car wrong...I just took it in for the 15K at 18K...had the front brakes replaced...and new tires done from Howard Tires here in San Mateo.

Should I bring it in again and have them check it out?
Also, my gas door jammed a few times.

It's like you said...when you're rolling out and stepping on the clutch it makes a clunking noise...
