So many have tried and wished they had not.

Conversely, my Coupe with 4 snows on is a treat to drive.

AGREED! gotta love midwest weater - last december it was perfectly clear in the morning, but when i left work there was a very thick sheet of ice on everything. took me 20 mins to get home (normally a 5 minute drive). then when i got home, i couldnt even get up the driveway!

when there is ANY type of frozen precipitation on the roads, my G stays in the garage and my pile-o-crap Alero gets me around town.

I've personally driven an '05 AT with these all weather tires and had no problem with about an inch of residual snow on the ground from a storm two days earlier. Of course, I've lived in the midwest my whole life and have >10 years worth of winter driving experience.
I have an 04 with pilot sports and there was a dusting. Then I tried to make a left turn from a stop. Then there was a lot of fishtailing. A lot of fishtailing. Did I mention...a lot of fishtailing????

I have an 04 G35C 6MT and ordered (4) Bridgestone Blizzaks from Tirerack in 225/50-17 size for the front and 225/55-17 for the rear. It's a dedicated winter tire that is fanatstic, repeat fantastic, in snow and ice conditions. The tradeoff is of course, handling on dry roads. Can't wait for the beginning of April to put the stock 18's on.

My 2 cents...

I am currently driving from SoCal to Boston (on hold in Indiana). I went through the mountains in Arizona and New Mexico and the slush there kept me to about 40 mph. I have stock "all season tires" that came with my 05G35C and I still felt unsafe. Luckily, there were enough truckers on the road to turn most of the slush to water so I was able to SLOWLY get through the storms. I am current trying to find some snow tires BEFORE I get to Boston.

I was talking about the base model wheels on the '05 AT. I'm not sure what brand they are but I do know that they're all weather tires and that you should be able to get around on a decent amount of snow just fine as long as you use winter driving techniques. Any tire that claims it is a "summer performance tire" should never be used in the snow. I've tried this and its not worth the headache.
