This is my first post so bare with me here,

I recently lost my last key fob for my 2007 Infiniti G35 Coup. The mechanical key will unlock/lock the doors and put the windows up and down if the key is fully twisted and held from the driver's door keyhole. I am under the impression that the mechanical key IS programmed to the car based on the fact that the door locks and windows respond to the mechanical key.

The mechanical key, however, will not twist the ignition switch to start the car. I get a red key light indication on the dash when I attempt to turn the ignition.

I can't start my car in order to take it to the dealership. Even if I order a fob online, I won't be able to program the remote since the car won't turn to the ACC position.

Am I doomed to take my car to the dealership for this repair? Should I order a fob offline first to reduce the price? I'm concerned that this is going to be a ~$500 fix for a key missing key fob. (Factory key fob: 200, towing, ~200, service, ~100).

Thanks for your help,
Druber

Door lock actuation does not read the transponder, it's a switch on the cylinder you are engaging.

You need your BCM programmed to accept the new key transponder.

Call around to different locksmiths, many have a tool to program the BCM and their service charge is cheaper than the tow to Nissan.

You'd have to call and ask, we can't answer that for you.
