Revs not matching
Revs not matching
Hey guys about three or four weeks ago my throwout bearing went out and I ended up just putting a new clutch in it. Normally when I'm casually driving I will shift at 3k rpm and it will match the speed for most gears at that rpm (20 mph, 30mph, 40mph). When the throwout bearing went I noticed that the the mph was lagging or something to catch up to what it normally is at 3k RPMs. After putting a new clutch in it is still doing this. I apologize if I didn't explain it to well, but to me it just feels like the speed is lagging compared to where it used to be at certain RPMs.
Your clutch was probably slipping and now it's not, this it seems like rpms are lower.
Get out on the highway, preferably climbing a slight incline, be in 6th gear and mash the throttle all the way to the floor. Your tach should climb evenly with speed and not jump.
You need to do this in 6th gear at highway speed so there is no torque multiplicative effect from gearing and the engine RPM needs to be into the torque powerband.
