How to unplug cig lighter from "accessory panel"

Feeling pretty dumb here. As I am putting in the double din I am taking everything apart and fixing or cleaning anything I see wrong. Trying to unhook these "accessory panels" , harness comes right out but anyone every unplug the cig connection to get the panel free so they can take it completely off? This connection is driving me nuts. Tried it with a tiny flathead pushing on every side. Nothing. The black connection that is.

I unplugged this one on the dash and in my armrest recently. I recall it being tough but I think I just pulled it apart by hand and pressed that side tab in the second picture with my thumb.

I'm thinking you put a small screw driver under here and push up, then pull it off.

thanks guys... was just out there again for 15 minutes messing with this with a small flat head, There is a "lift gate" on it that allows you access to the black and red wire that run into the "harness" and I thought well maybe you just pull the wires out, nope. Nothing else seems to push, pull or move in any direction. I am just going to call this "unremovable" haha. Seriously though, and how stupid. It shouldnt be a puzzle on how to remove. I will check out youtube or something and see if anybody has anything as I am sure this is in other nissans, infiniti' or whatever. Just no logical way to remove it.

Mystery solved.. so you just pull on that whole black piece, it is a plug into the back of the cig lighter... just pull with some force and rock it a little as you pull and it will slide off.

I completely understand your frustration. I live in perpetual fear of forcing things and breaking them. I am a "tightener/strangler." Wife can't open soda bottles after I'm done with them..."can't let any of the bubbles out," right? I once (cleanly, thank god) broke the stem off a pretty sturdy wine glass while washing it "because we can't allow a single speck of dirt or spore of botulism to remain on it," right? The list goes on and on....

So pulling hard on things...it's a worry, yaknowwhatImean?
