Quote: I have a CD00A that I installed this year, shifts like a brand new transmission I also have a B&M short throw shifter which I strongly recommend, much better feel than stock and it looks exactly the same once installed.

About the "stripped Camaro" option, in 2014 they brought the Z28 package back and that's basically what it was, and that car is an absolute monster.

Well, that isn't really a stripper. A stripped Camaro would be an SS V8 engine/drivetrain, no power windows, locks, mirrors, base cloth seats, no cruise or AC and radio delete possible, 6 speed only in an LT body and wheels. Obviously price should drop according You could get a Z/28 with the IROC engine and no options in the mid 80's. That Z28 looks pretty loaded to me.

Does the CD00A still have that notchy feel of previous CDxxx? Some people don't like the notchy type gearbox but

Ohh yeah it's definitely notchy and that shifter I have makes it a little worse but it's got a very POSITIVE feel when you grab the next gear. It doesn't just "slide in" like some transmissions.

Quote: Excellent summary. The CD00A is available for $1795 from a sponsor here, Z1 I think. Wonder if anyone has this installed on G35.

Today's 'sports' cars are so refined and luxurious you don't really feel the 'sport' part. The original G35/350Z was pretty unrefined and loud, bit of a choppy ride, hard clutch pedal and those notchy gears. You feel every shift in these cars, you can feel the gears meshing when you move the shifter as they engage. You won't get this feel on a modern Porsche or most modern 'sports' cars, so refined and all those linkages kills the feel.

They used to sell 'stripped' Camaros and Mustangs in the 80's and early 90's. I had a used base 91 Mustang 5.0 notchback that only had an am/fm radio and manual everything, very little sound insulation and no AC. Basically the GT drivetrain with no options and the smaller rims with the 10 holes lol. You could have even factory delete the radio in the base model and they sold them super cheap. Loved that car, it was almost 400lbs lighter than the loaded models of the time. Always wonder if there is a market for such a car today, assuming the right price of course. Today's G37/370Z is nice but just too 'smooth' for my liking from my experience during a 20 minute test drive.
Okayy correct me if I'm wrong... So the CD00A is the 6 speed out of the G37 and 370 of which is better than what the G35 and 350 came with?

The CD00A is the latest revision of the CD009 and came in the 2003-2007 G35 coupe and 2003-2006 G35 sedan and 350Z.

The V36 G35 and 350Z with the HR motor uses the JK41B, and G37/370Z uses 1EA0B both of which are a completely different transmissions that are not compatible with the previous generations.

No it came factory equipped with the CD009, the CD00A was a newer revision that came out about two years ago I think. I don't know what the differences are though, it could be any little tiny item inside but I'm not aware of any changes as far as adding more synchros or anything. I think it's still triple synchro for gears 1,2,3 and double synchro on 4th.

Keep in mind if you do buy a NEW transmission it comes with a shipping oil in it, you can't drive on that oil, drain it and refill with the proper gear oil. They also come with a brand new throwout bearing so you don't need to buy another one.

I also strongly recommend you buy something like this directly from your Nissan dealership to minimize any shipping accidents, the factory box is fairly flimsy and unless your vendor is taking steps to repackage it or at least strap it down substantially I can definitely see issues during shipping. Not sure what the price tag is right now but it came out to almost an exact $1500 last fall when I bought mine. Not a bad price for a factory brand new transmission.

It's fine, not a lot of folks are even aware of the CD00A since it's so new and most folks just rebuild the transmission they have with updated components. I would have simply rebuilt the one I have but I wanted a second transmission to rebuild whenever I have spare time and mine was getting pretty grindy and needed to be replaced now.
