Coolant hose
Coolant hose
Ok so while doing a valve cover replacement, I tried to get that hose loose so i can get more clearance to one of the bolts on the cover and I even loosened up the clamp. And at the end I forgot to tighten up the clamp and when I was done I turned on the car and it leaked bad. But now I tried pushing the hose down and tightened down the clamp but it doesn't tighten all the way just to a certain limit and it just gets loose till it reaches the limit and gets loose again. And when I try to tighten the clamp right before it gets to its limit it still leaks a little. Whats that hose called? And what kind I do to get it to stop leakin? Should I get another clamp? I tried looking to see if I ripped the hose but I didn't see any cracks or tears.
The passenger side 3/4" ID hose is the heater hose..the smaller one behind it (more toward the firewall) is the throttle body coolant hose. The arrangement us the opposite order on the driver side.
The worm gear hose clamps can get the slots pulled or stripped so that they will not tighten.
You should get a new one. You can get one at any HW store.
A better clamp is an oetiker clamp that is crimped on or maybe even a pex pipe clamp, but I am not sure what sizes the pex come in.
It may be too dificult to get the crimp tool in there to crimp a oetiker anyway...but definitely get a new worm gear hose clamp and don't overtighten and strip it.
If you can get or find a proper size spring clamp at a auto store, that is probably best, but I never have much luck finding those locally even at auto parts stores. That is what was on the hose originally OEM.

Thanks for the info. But it will leak if I try to change the clamp correct? Like it will leak a lot once I remove the hose from where it's connected. Any ideas on how to keep leakage at a minimal or how to remove it if it's on there really tight?
you can loosen the old worm gear clamp completely and remove it, then put a similar clamp back on.
I usually torque those little 1/4" worm drive clamps like the one in the picture to 30 in/lbs and I've never had an issue with them backing off. The bigger 5/16" ones I usually use 50 in/lbs.
