06 G35 Coupe - HELP!

Recently Bought a automatic 2006 G35 been fine for 3 months now im randomly having a problem where the car just basically dies. The Steering wheel tenses up and the Brake and Battery Light both come on and the Gear shows Neutral when it was in Drive. Most times when i put it in park and restart the car it works fine after, but once it took a good 5 mins for it to be able to start back up. Ive noticed when it starts back up if feels like it has no power but all the lights and accessories work. Anyone know whats going on with my car?

Scan it for codes. Could be a lotta things but most commonly its a bad crankshaft or camshaft sensor.

So you're telling me the vehicle is in DRIVE, but the gear shift indicator says NEUTRAL.

Correct?

"Steering wheel tenses up" because the engine stopped running and the power steering pump isn't moving. Same reason the brake and battery light turned on, engine stopped running. This is normal behavior when the engine isn't running.

Hard restart is probably a cam or crank sensor, like Scorpio said scan for codes and you'll probably find a code for one of those.

However the transmission shifter being in DRIVE but the car is displaying NEUTRAL is a problem, are you SURE this is what's happening?
