'05 G35 coupe only 36k miles P1815 A/T See pic

So after spark plugs changed and coil packs changed for rough start & idle issues. Then the A'T chaeck light flickered and hard shifting occurred. My brother in law drove it and said it sounds great & drove great! He said with the issue now it seems like it is stuck in manual mode. Took to a shop and they came up with this. P1815 code is only code thrown. Yet they wanted to replace transmission 990.95 is shown but there was also another $2400 estimate that went with that 990 & shop fee. Totaling near $3700.00. No other codes and otherwise perfect inspection.

Needless to say I will be picking my car up and telling them to stick it. 36K miles and rarely driven until the last year. Garage kept. It doesn't need entire new transmission. SO seeing this, anyone have any tips.

Picked it up from the shop. Drove it for 50 min on all types of roads. Drove it normal, no punching it or anything. It still did it a little. Not near as many times or as hard. So maybe it is just relearning from having battery cable off while plugs and coils were replaced. IDK. Any thoughts. If it is a matter of just relearning and adapting, how long does it generally take before 100% normal again?

How many miles are on the car?
If they determined the trans was slipping, I would think there would be TCM-specific codes along with the P1815
I would get a second opinion, as $3700 for a new transmission is ridiculous. I'd bet you can get a used JDM transmission installed for less than half that.
I'd take the car to an Infiniti or Nissan dealership and pay the ~$150 diagnostic fee.

Only 36,000 miles on the car. My mom barely drove it and it was garage kept and always serviced by infiniti. She passed away and I acquired the car 1.5 yrs ago with only 22k on it. There are no other codes but the P1815. It never had an issues until battery cable disconnected for spark plug change and coil pack change. Then this started. I picked it up from the shop and drove it for 50 min on all types of roads. I drove normal and no fancy punching it or anything. It actually seemed a bit better. still acted up but a lot less and softer than before. Before it felt like the bottom was falling out on it;.
