G35 overheating and in limp mode after radiator change

So long story short I installed a brand new Mishimoto radiator and shorty after installing it overheated and went into limp mode, everything was done correctly but now it doesn’t drive past 20mph and revs up really high as if the transmission is slipping. I’ve tried everything from resetting the ecu to a coolant flush to cleaning out the MAF but nothing seems to work. When I run the code it comes out to P1217. How should I go about this ?

Also before the install everything was working perfectly fine.

Front and rear cameras, tire pressure for all four tires can display on screen, folding side view mir
You neglected to mention the year and mileage of your vehicle but following the troubleshooting steps in the FSM would be a good place to start.

See page EC 354

Did you install the proper radiator for your vehicle?
Did you check/change the thermostat
Did you check/replace the water pump?
Did you check the fans?
Did you replace the radiator cap?
Did you refill with the proper coolant?
Did you confirm there is no air bubble in the cooling system?

Good luck

P1217 is the overheat code, it should clear itself as soon as the temperature drops but if it does not perform an ECM reset.

If the vehicle is still overheating then you have air trapped in the system usually caused by improperly bleeding air out of the coolant, read some threads about burping the system. It's not as simple as just dumping it a bunch of coolant and turning the engine on, newer engines have bleed valves to get air out of specific places as well as a specific set of steps you follow like making sure the heater is turned to high, adding coolant very slowly so that you don't trap air anywhere, ETC.

You have likely got air in your heater core.
Make sure your hose clamps are tight!!!!
Get car on a level surface.

I open the radiator cap
I fill reservoir
I open the breather at the passenger side by the firewall.
I fill at the breather with a funnel
When the radiator is full, I put the cap on.
I continue to fill until the breather is topped off.
I close the breather off.

Start car and watch heat.
turn on the heater

When engine heat steadies out...rev engine and hold at 3k+.
Engine heat will go up...run it a bit.
let engine idle and get temp down.
Kill engine and wait for it to cool.

Fill with coolant at the breather, leaving radiator cap on.

Repeat until engine temp needle runs normal at high revs.

Everything is ok.

Also make sure the fans are running at full speed. They should kick in when the temperature gauge needle reaches the halfway mark. or when you turn on the air conditioner.
