Scanner

I asked this on another forum but would like opinions from you guys.
been wanting to buy an obd scanner. The ones I’ve been looking at do abs and srs.
they are about 350. These scanners also do other car makers.
please tell me your thoughts and/or what you guys use.
thanks
Joe

$20 BAFX OBD2 bluetooth adapter
$10 Android Torque Pro

SRS you can put the car in diagnostic mode to find any problems.

ABS braking control scanning you can just drive down to a local parts house for a scan.

That combo of the BAFX and Torque Pro is pretty much what I use for 99% of diagnostics on this platform, full data logging, realtime data display, very VERY functional but you will need an Android device with bluetooth.

If you want more diagnostic there's also the full Windows 10 Nissan Datascan 2 but you will need a cable and a laptop. NDS2 for the PC will do everything you need except for fuel/timing tuning, you will need the Uprev tuner software for that.

NDS2 for pc is like $75 with a cable, you will need a windows laptop though.

Its a confusing process. I find one then go to the cars it covers only to find it only covers 2006 and up.
There’s the Bluetooth ones, the WiFi ones , ones for a laptop and handheld ones.
Anyway I’ll check those out.

Just make sure it has protocol ISO 9141-2

That's the exact protocol this chassis uses, the BAFX OBD2 adapter does have that protocol.

I’m sure that one would do but I don’t have any android or windows devices
not sure if I wouldn’t rather have one with its own screen.

The issue I've seen with lower end ones with their own screen is the response time for real-time data is horrible, I haven't had much experience with them other than the really budget options. I imagine ones that are a couple hundred bucks would perform significantly better.

You should definitely look into NDS2 to see if that's what you're looking for. It's Nissan/Infiniti specific, 2003-2006 sedan and 2003-2007 coupe uses Datascan 2, everything newer uses datascan 3.

However that is Nissan specific software that you wouldn't be able to use on other vehicles, however it provides almost as much functionality (doesn't have onboard frequency/oscilloscope so it's MUUUUUUCH less expensive) as Consult-II/III the dealership tool. Full ABS/SRS/TCM/etc, you can reprogram your own keys, etc.

That’s sounds interesting and not that expensive, until you have to buy a laptop and cable.
I’m gonna think about that. It sure does a lot.
I just may have to go that route. Also it looks pretty easy to use.
As far as the handhelds I was thinking 250 to 300 dollars should buy a good one.
Then I would have it for all our vehicles.
Thanks for the link

I just did a little research and found you can get the datascanII software for $40, a cable for $20.
That’s not bad. Just need an Intel or Amd windows tablet.
thanks again for the link

Choosing the right scanner for your G35 is crucial for diagnosing issues quickly and efficiently. It’s great to see recommendations from fellow owners to help narrow down the best tools. For anyone managing diagnostic reports, maintenance logs, or repair histories, https://comfax.com/how-to/fax-from-iphone/ how to fax a document from iphone can help keep everything organized. Whether it's tracking scan results or storing receipts, it’s a great way to have all your vehicle-related documents accessible when you need them.
Joe
