Street Fab Performance is going to be doing the remaining work. I talked to Alex and he works on Z/G's often so he knows about all the clearance issues with going twin and will try to come up with a solution that will allow for somewhat maintenance friendly work down the road.

This is one of the reasons I'm a huge fan of a single turbo setup on these cars, trying to fit twins is really challenging, there's just no room to work so forget doing any in-car maintenance/repairs on it.

The only twin setups I've seen that were maintenance friendly sat really low and required scavenge pumps. Not a huge fan of those either...

Single is so much easier, and there's so many options for modern singles that respond quickly, the GT35R is really popular for engines of this size. There's a reason people use them on ANYTHING in the 3-4 liter range, it's probably been the most popular turbo for 6 cylinder engines in the history of boosting.

Well it's been almost a year since the last update. I lost my job for 6 months and just now caught up to start working on her again. Street Fab performance did an amazing job putting her back together and I asked if they could leave the downpipe for me to finish up. Here is what the engine bay looks like:

Started working on the downpipes this weekend! Pics to follow

For the downpipes I picked up some resonated test pipes Street Fab had laying around and I said I would get them fab'd up to work.

Before with me holding it in place:

Hanging from exhaust:

Lengthened and put in place:

Full exhaust view from underneath:

Now the last remaining things are to hook up the O2 sensors, fill the fluids, then get her over to the tuning shop! Been a looooong time in the making but the finish line is in sight!

Finally got fluids in her to get her started! And to my surprise, for this being my very first engine rebuild, she started right up! It's been a loooong time coming! Still have a few things to wrap up but she turns on!

Sounds amazing.

Can’t wait to finish my coupe up. Just waiting on supercharger bracket spacers and draining the old fuel… jealous you got that first start in.

Ive still got a few hurdles to overcome. The biggest one I have right now is the thick white smoke shooting out of the exhaust. It makes me fear something is wrong with the head gasket and having to take it all apart. But on the flip side the gas is at least 3 years old? Maybe 4? 5? Idk it’s been in there a while. I’m going to replace it and let it idle for a bit again and see what happens. Hopefully that is it and I can get on with the tuning!

Oh boy it's going to be a doozie... So I noticed oil and coolant out of my exhaust not exterior leaks. I'm just going to go ahead and replace the head gaskets and I will go ahead and buy new turbos. This time around I am going to buy a digital torque wrench too, instead of using a twist style. And maybe replace a few other things I find along the way. Rebuild attempt take 2.

Sorry to hear about that. That sucks when you thought you were so close. Hope it all goes well and you can get it running again soon. Head gaskets shouldn’t be too bad.

Welp I will admit defeat, after hearing her start it was a good feeling. But diagnosing the issue with burning coolant and oil? I started taking the top end off and just stopped without any plan of returning. So I plan on selling it. What’s a good price point? $4,000? Is that what it but books for? I don’t know. So if anyone is looking for a project car G35, here she is. 138k miles on odo, 6 speed, rebuilt engine with forged guts, all engine info for rebuild found at beginning of thread. Thanks!

YMMV, but it can’t hurt to list and then negotiate after. Someone may love it at that price point. The parts are good.
